It's 1/8th of an inch!

A Razor Cell phone is thicker. Get real now. If the guest was a whole inch too short I could see the CM saying no. But for 1/8 1/4 1/16, thats just being an ass.
IT IS A F'ING RULE

You just do not get it that it is a RULE. It may be a stupid rule to you but it is a rule and if you ever worked for me you would have been fired in an instant.

You fail to understand that if a kid gets hurt on a ride even if the height has nothing to do with the injury then Disney would lose the lawsuit because the kid should not have been allowed on that ride.

I hope your boss reads this and becomes aware of your attitude problem. I also find that you are wrong about Zazu and owe him an apology however he is a big bird who can take care that matter.

RULE, look that up in a dictionary or try going to school and asking the kindergarten teacher to explain to you what that four letter word means.

I accept the you and the other are CM's on power trips while at work. I'll make sure that when I visit the parks to avoid you all so that I can enjoy the "magic" that is WDW.

No you're failing to see reality here. It is the CM's job to measure. If CM Joe gives the ok for your child to ride and CM Todd (at load) thinks the child is too short and re-measures, then CM Joe could be transferred or even suspended for a safety violation.

It's not worth losing their job so your child can ride.

I bet you $100 that NO CM would EVER or has EVER been fired for letting a guest that is 1/8th of an inch too short, ride a ride.

As I JUST said. It's a power trip thing. It's the "I am the CM and I say if you ride or not."

But 1/8th of an inch is still 1/8th of an inch. If the child does not make the height requirement (not the word REQUIREment), the child does not ride. The measurement was set down and standardized for a reason. And, believe it or not, that reason was not to annoy the parents of children too short to ride ..

Well, it's a good thing I don't work for you (for your sake) cuz then I'd have to hit you with a law suit for wrongful termination.

Yeah. I am so sure that the courts would say "Well Mr CM did you know this child was 1/8th of an inch too short and that is why the safety bar came loose and he slipped out."

Attitude problem???

Let me just say this...

Look up being a power hungry employee and tell me how popular they are with not only guest but other employees.

I know exactly what you and the others are trying to say about "It's the rule" I used to be that way too. I was a manager at a store and I was 100% stickler for the rules. Then I learned that some rules have bending points. The rule mentioned in this thread is one of those rules.

You know and so does everyone else in this thread and the thread in the other board that 1/8th of an inch wont make any difference. We're not talking about a CM letting in a family without paying. We're not talking about a CM letting a 2 year old ride BTM. We're talking about the difference in a CM saying to him/herself "well, it' s1/8th of an inch. I could mak ehim tkae his shoes off and see hoe tall he really is, or I could understand that he's probly just tired and slouching some."

In a business you have to learn to give a little to get a little. A Cm letting that child ride a ride would make that child's day just FULL of magic. The CM still did their job by checking. but then made a realistic judgment call.

Attitude problem, yes you do.

1. Saying that people doing their jobs are asses.
2. Insulting Zazu and Polar.
3. Ignoring Polar's warning.
4. Stating that CMs get a power trip from enforcing rules.
5. Failing to understand that this site has rules.
6. Failling to understand that this site is made up of people who respect CMs and the hard work they do.

I come from a long line of people who have worked and know that rules are rules and you must obey rules or risk getting fired. Not everyone can get a job easily or fast enought to pay for bills and feed kids and pets.

 I am out of here as this is a flamefest waiting to happen.

   Please note the post before me was editted while I was posting this post. I am glad there is a ten minute time limit on editting.

1) It's an opinion board.
2) I didn't insult anyone
3) What warning?
4) It's a part of any job.
5) I have not broke any of this sites rules.
6) This site is made up of CM's who come here and bitch about their job. Nothing wrong with that. I have been reading on this site for a long time. I find most the stuff very funny and entertaining. It' s funny to see how people think and act when "back stage' of any job.

If I find a kid who's really borderline on the height requirement, and I'm not at the end of the chain of loading, I tell the parents that whatever I say isn't certain, and someone down the line may decide otherwise and they have to accept that since they're directly in charge of safety. I've never had an issue with it ever, at Disney or at my previous park's most popular ride with a 56" height requirement. It also takes out the arguement of BUT HE RODE THIS YESTERDAY, REALLY!

Guests seem to not realize that putting millions of people on a ride each year safely requires rules and judgement, and that kids grow like crazy and 99% of the time the kid doesn't even care. The people who fight height requirements are the "powerhungry" douches who'd think cast members refusing to let someone slide are powerhungry douches.

See. now that is a smart CM thing to do. You realize that the child is as you said boarder line. So you inform them that you are letting them past your check point, but they may get stopped later. That lets the guest know that they are boarder line and it may cause problems later.

Now I want to make note that I never said that a guest should argue with the CM over 1/8th of a inch. if the CM says no, then accept it and move on. Don't mater if the CM is having a bad day or is a "powerhungry" douche" They do have the final call.

See. what those who are bitching at me are not seeing is that I am in no way saying that a guest should cheat to get around the rules. I 100% disagree with the OP in the other board for asking how to get around the rule.

I was just also commenting that it's silly for a Cm to get picky over such a minute little thing as 1/8th of an inch.
