What is the matter with people or What should a guest do in this situation

Firstly, I think the real issue is the poor poster that 'let it happen'. Either you stand up for yourself or go and find security, show them the bruise and get the woman thrown out of the park. People continue with this crap because we let them.

For me, after being struck by the person, I would stand up (on the seat or table to get enough height) and announced to the other diners:

"Is someone able to offer this 'person' a table? You see, she thought by elbowing me in the chest and shoving me out of the way she could steal this table from me. I was patiently waiting for the previous guests to leave, but this 'person' doesn't think that give me any rights. She has also misplaced her children, if you find them can you please give them back to her."

Then I would sit down and quietly and calmly say:

"Now 'lady' it is time for you leave. Sorry, are you embarrassed? Well, not to worry, it is a good thing that you never want to show you face here again. Go find your invisible children, go straight to the exit, do not make any stops along the way and F**k off!"

I know, a little harsh. But she started it.

I think I would have just sat down anyway, and if she complained, I would have told her in not-so-polite terms that I was there before she was, and if she didn't like that fact, then she could piss off.

Ill contribute, I always take lots of pics, Ill send them all to you to post, might even try some video also.

When I go to the parks alone and its busy I always motion for people to join me at my table, no need to have one person take up a whole table that has room. If I were waiting for a table and someone jumped on it like this they would find me joining them, I would sit down and go about my business and if they said anything they would not get a friendly response. I'm a very friendly guy but I realy dont like rude people.

You could also try videoing the incident as much as possible, then casually say, "Smile! You're going on the internet so everyone can see what stupid, rude people look like!"

The fact is that they assaulted another guest which can be ground for annual pass revocation, expulsion from the park, and/or a visit to the local jail. The victim clearly had been standing at the table and was waiting for it to be ready for the victim to use the table.

I would politely explain that that the table was mine and that if the person did not leave then security would be called due to the person assaulting me.

People like that do not care if they make network news as long as they get what they want as in this case the table.

I would have beat her ass. Seriously. I'm from Alaska; we don't take that sort of crap up here.

I had one non-English speaking woman do something like that to me at Redd Rockett's when I visited DLR in 2005. She stood at the end of the line so it looked like she wasn't actually in line, (you know how some people do) so when I approched the line she insisted, "I in line! I in line!" I backed away and decided at the last second I wanted a dessert. As I was getting my cake, I realized there were five small children running all around the buffet tables, grabbing items and shoving them on non-English speaking lady's tray. :mad:

I went back to the line to pay for my things and she still insisted, "I in line!" even as children were piling the tray with pizza and junk food. I said, "Whatever, lady." And pushed right by her. When I got to the CM working the register, she leaned over and whispered that the woman had been "saving" a place in line for about 20 minutes. I should have dumped a coke on her head. :twisted:

That's how it is at Midway Airport; inadequate number of food court tables, so I've often had people ask me if they can share (I'm usually either alone or with just one other person). I have no problem at all if someone asks me, but if they suddenly swoop in and try to pull a table theft, they're gonna get some major Chicago 'tude from me!!

Some people seem to be really possessive of the benches in the parks, too. One person will be sitting there, and if you plunk down at the other end, you can feel their eyes boring into you (not that I give a flying whoop, but good lord, do you really need THAT much personal space?).

A picture of people screaming "mine mine mine mine" like the seagulls in Finding Nemo come to mind.

We hear about slip and falls, pinched fingers, back problems from autopia and other rides, food allergies and so many injuries but who would think that the most danger place in parks is the restaurants. Who would thing you could end up in the hospital over a fight for a table. I have seen people get pretty aggressive about spaces like at parades and fireworks viewing as well as seats and tables.
