I would do it under the following conditions only:

Free scooter
All I can eat free
Free admission
Free limo
Actually be able to go into the park without security following me.
No nasty pin traders
New shoes and warm clothes.
All the event pins for free
When they give back my AP as I was stalked and harrassed by pin traders.
AND most important is that I get to bring 100 of my good friends from here for free with all the above amenities.

I triple dog dare Disney to give me all that as that is what it would take me to get back to the park ever again in DLR let alone a pay to play event above the cost of admission.

I'm not familiar with the Disneyland version, but at the Magic Kingdom Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween is a separate ticket event. That means a few things:

1. The number of admissions is limited. There are often fewer people in the park for MNSSH as there are during the rest of the day. That means short lines for the rides.

2. Reduced price on your admission for the event- at least compared to a one day one park ticket, which will run you $62. The Halloween ticket is $38 or less

3. A special parade and special fireworks offered only for the event (and trust me, both are very cool). That's in addition to the normal daytime parades that are still run.

4. The trick or treating, but also many characters in special outfits, meet and greets, and other activities that you won't see them in.

And a heck of a lot more.

Honestly, it kind of makes me chuckle that you're comparing it to Knott's Camp Spooky. A much more comparable comparison would be to Knott's big Halloween event, where they've closed the park and reopen it again with the scare zones, mazes, and monsters runnign around. That's what you compare it to. Disney has just made theirs family friendly- something the kids can go to and not get freaked out.

Having been to Knott's version, as well as Busch Gardens and Universals (all of which close the park, then reopen it requiring a special ticket), I'll take Disney's anyday. Far more fun, entertaining, and I love that I can actually bring my kids to it.

Not being a company brown noser here, but at least make the comparison valid by comparing it to comparable events.

Now wait a minute. I did compare it to the proper event. Halloween Haunt is NO place for kids. I know it, I go every year. Knott's is still open everywhere during the Camp Spooky event even the rides that are redecorated. That is not what Disney is doing here. They are letting guests in for this event only and not like at Knott's where you have a choice. What I was trying to show here was how greedy Disney has become. I know I could go to Disneyland and enjoy the Halloween decorations there, so why would I make my kids suffer by going to the other park just to get a few bits of candy that will cost me about $75 and still not have the freedom to explore like I want? It makes no sense. Then I am expected to pay more money. Why? From that disclaimer, I would have some very pissed off kids on my hands. "I'm sorry honey, we can't go on any rides, we're here to TOT, that's all."

The event isn't even at Disneyland, which would be fun because then you could have fun after TOT. Nope, it's at DCA, the park of no guests. I just have a problem with teasing kids like that. It's like taking your kids to Toys R Us and not buying them anything. How crappy is that? I for one, don't want to put them through such an experience. But that's of course my personal soapbox of torture. I'll go back to carving my pumpkin now.

Not sure when BGW changed... but we stay open and try to "seamlessly" transition into Howl-O-Scream... we don't shut down, and as far as I hear/know we don't have special tickets... but that all aside...
I remember Howl-O-Scream as being something that was supposed to scare you, make you jump, shriek, and run... but I took Saturday off, and I must say.. this year's scares are.... lame.

In my normal civvies, I scared more people than the Scare Squads. people would pull their children closer, girls would scream and run from me, that stuff. I would even scare fellow cast members. I want to know how a "guest" can do a better job of scaring, when the cast are being PAID to scare peole? and I should really think of getting paid for coming in as a guest... ^_^

Maybe it's the still-bleeding tattoos?

Or possibly the sharp points on the antlers?

Then again, it might be your pit bull/wolverine mix guide dog.... :p:

Of course, if you're a different Jennifer than I remember, then I have no idea.

I don't know about BGW, but the last few years, as well as this year, the Tampa park closes up at 5pm, has all of the guests leave, then reopens again a couple of hours later. No seamless transition there, that's for sure.

And Claudia, again, I'm speaking from my experience at Magic Kingdom in Florida. I'm not really familiar with what California is doing, unfortunately. I'm just saying that IF it's at all like the Florida version then I would say it's most certainly worth a separate admission. That's all.

But then I'm one of those oddballs who actually really likes DCA and doesn't get all of the bashing that the park receives. **shrugs**

nah... I'm definitely not the Jennifer you remember... I don't do the "grotesque look" scare.. I do the "where the [censored] did she come from!?" scare ^_^

I don't understand why DCA is so hated either. I like the park too, though I feel it still needs a lot of work. I hate the fact that they don't make a lot of the special merchandise (i.e. Director Mickey, the Paradise Pier animals, etc)like they did when the park first opened.
At any rate, I wouldn't go to Mickey's Halloween Treat either. I've been spoiled by the fact I have friends who work at DL and I can get in the parks for free. :D:
