Am I missing something? It says the tickets are "not valid for theme park admission prior to the hours of the event."

So did this event used to be free??? Sorry if I'm being an SG...

They did this last year too, and it honestly wasn't that bad. The big store in DCA was open, Greetings, and it was the easiest few hours most of us had worked that day. On our breaks we got to admire the good, and mock the bad costumes that we saw filtering through our doors...but most of the people who found out about the event were AP's, and it was spread out over a few days. They were more worried about their kids getting the 'Halloween candy' than actually shopping.

Granted, all of this is from a stores perspective, so I don't know what it was like for the other operations.

Yeah, well, way back in the day (like 13 or more years ago) they used to run an event just for the CM's kids called "Little Monsters on Main Street." You brought your kiddies in costume, there was a nominal charge for nametags (like ours but orange reading something like, "Olivia was a Little Monster"), and I think the tickets were nominal to free as well, but reservations required. I took my nieces a few times. It was great - the rides in Fantasyland and Toon Town were open, the kids posed for pictures with the characters like at the CM Christmas party, and volunteers ran candy stations around the park. Nothing like a wee squeeky voice running up to one of your co-workers squeeing, "Earl the squirrel, Earl the squirrel!" There was a costume parade in Toontown. And the costumes were amazing - my mother made Belle, Jasmine, Snow White, etc. costumes for the girls - not like the cheesy ones that the company sells in the parks or at the Disney stores, but proper costumes, theatrical quality. I remember one little boy dressed as the Phantom of the Opera, spangly cape and all, with a proper ceramic mask. It was good times.

But then again, why have a free event for CM's with volunteer help, when you can charge the passholes and public an arm and a leg for their dream to dress up at Disneyland?

In other words, if you have tickets for Mickey's Halloween Treat ONLY (not a regular park ticket in addition to the Mickey's Halloween Treat event). You can't enter the park before the event starts.

No they did this last year and all the passholes hogged up all the tickets FOR EVERY DAY in the pre-sale so not many others got to buy tickets for the event. And those stupid passholes bragged about it all last year too.The free event is for Cast Members and their families. It's called Little Monsters and it's a separate event.

2 years ago, they tried this free event in DTD and all the low life welfare families came and mooched all the free candy and stuff and it was a really lousy event. So that's why they came up with Mickey's Halloween Treat. To keep the low life freeloaders out.

This sounds like a rip-off of Knott's Camp Spooky held on weekends through the month of October. And it's free. Camp Spooky Halloween show on the stage in Camp Snoopy, trick-or-treat candy stations, craft booths, and Halloween-themed music on the PA system. And wandering monsters, non-scary, roamed the midway.

Camp Spooky is free with park admisson and is held on weekends in the day during October. It is a lot of fun and kids (up to age 11 I believe) can pick up candy and little trinkets such as a pirate bandana.
Over ten years ago, I went to the first Mickey's Halloween Treat (1995 for those mathmatically-challenged :) ). It was one of the more enjoyable trips to DL I have had. There were no lines and I rode Indiana Jones for the first time.

I highly doubt that it's an "imitation" of Knott's event. Try Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween that they've been doing at the Magic Kingdom in Florida for quite a few years now. And which is easily my favorite of the all the park's Halloween stuff.

But that was my point. Knott's doesn't segregate you from the rest of the park or fun. But Disney is making the most of of that Disney dollar. Why would I pay twice or hell even three times to have a grand day at the Resort? Are we as a species that gullible? Oh wait, look who I'm talking about. AP's and tourists. I still refuse to pay it and damn it think about this one. Would you a member of this site, willingly do this? Considering the location, I seriously doubt it. This goes out to all our fine members. If there is something I have overlooked, please enlighten me. But it will be a cold day in Hell before I pay for the "privilege" to TOT at DCA. :mad:
