Am I missing something? I didn't see anything that I would have considered over the top. Churchy, unless there's a post that I didn't see, I'll be coming with you. I've seen way more offensive stuff on this site than anything that I've seen you post in this thread.

We moderators here prefer to do our work quietly and backstage, where it belongs. Since Churchy has raised the issue publicly, and as others are asking about the nature of her offense, I'll see if I can explain things.

One post of hers generated more complaints than any other we've seen before. There were two phrases that seemed to tick folks off the most:

... unsaved families who do not know how to act civil like...

Which suggested to some that those who are "unsaved" are automatically "uncivil".

... hope to get those heathens and their brats into a good moral group of people.

Which suggested to some that "heathens" -- broadly read as "folks who aren't in my denomination" -- are not of "good morals", and that all of their children are automatically "brats".

I can't say if these interpretations are accurate representations of Churchy's opinions or not (and I'm not asking). They do represent a bit of a stretch, but people with a non-mainstream faith (and some folks in the mainstream) take a lot of flack for their beliefs, and may be a bit sensitive about perceived insults.

Our only admonition to Churchy -- and my advice to everyone else here -- is to leave questions of religion for more appropriate forums. Cast members come from all sorts of backgrounds, and profess all sorts of faiths (including none at all), but we manage to work together successfully because we try (to varying degrees of success) to set aside our differences and concentrate on what we have in common.

Let's try to remember that what we have in common *here* is stupid guests, laughter, and mutual support.

That was written from the point of view of the select few right wing Chirstians who feel they are better than others, must save souls, and make the world a better place. As a fundamentalist I have run into their type to often and they miss the good things in life because they have a superiority complex.

Personally I do not believe that. I do general counseling but never ever talk about my religion. Personally I feel Joy night has gone from a night where families could go to the park with like minded people to a night that is worse than when the park is open to everyone.

If you want to make the world a better place then instead of taking kids to parks for a day why not mentor them and feed them. Every week you teach them moral values, counsel them on their life problems and be there for them. This can be done by neighbors, the local grocer, churches, schools, family and even by strangers on line. It does not matter your religion, sexuality, economic status or who you are but you need to constantly be working with the kids instead of one day of fun in a park or a picnic.

I can still remember what one of our teachers said to us during graduation rehearsals when I was in high school. We were going to have a trip to Disneyland for Grad Night, and after explaining the details, the teacher told us, "Just remember--the Monorail will NOT be stopping at the Disneyland Hotel!" (Everybody laughs). This was way back in the 70s.... I remember going with my class and teachers to Disneyland for my junior high graduation (daylight, of course), but I don't think I went to Grad Night four years later.

One of my cocast who worked this year's NoJ reported that he was informed he was going to hell no fewer than four times (that's including the pastor who told him, "Son... you know that f-gs go to hell, right?" Nice guy, that Pastor...). He also caught a teenaged couple err... coupling... on the Frontierland Raft Dock to Tom Sawyer's Island. Another friend in Merchantainment reported that on the second Night of Joy, they were told not to restock the pins before the event due to the amazing amount of shrinkage that occurred the night before.

She's correct! At DL we do similar in Adventure & Frontier Lands due to shrink. At Emp. all keychains & magnet spinners are covered with a heavy zippered tarp. Pin supplies & like items large shelf is zipper covered & moved against wall of pins which is covered by a DL banner. This is always done for Grad Nights, maybe for other private events too. Thief guests leave us no other choice. :mad:

"Pastors" like this just irritate the heck out of me- and that's as another pastor (I'm a youth minister). Put simply, there's some bigoted jerks out there- some just disguise it under "religion", and it happens in all faiths and belief systems.

These idiots need to read the portions of their Bible that also say that liars, theives, those filled with hatred for their enemies, gossips, etc. are also going to hell. Oh, whoops, guess it just pretty much condemned everyone there, including myself. grrrrrrrr

In other words, the Bible's point is that there isn't anyone better than another, and that all of us have screwed up and are in need of help in some way. And especially self-righteous twits like that.

Sorry if it's sounding a bit preachy. It's not intended that way, just letting off steam about people that give us a bad name, and who obviously completely miss the point.

There is a certain Christian denomination (I'll call it church A) that I will never join because of what a pastor of that denomination said to my mother & father before they got married. Church A believes that only their members will go to Heaven - everyone else goes straight to Hell. Well, my grandfather died when my dad was 12, and he was a preacher for another denomination (Church B).

My dad, being a gentleman, told my mother that they would have her minister from Church A do their premarital counseling. When her preacher found out that my dad's late father was a minister for Church B, he said that my grandfather was in Hell.

Needless to say, my mother left Church A and promptly joined Church B. Her father paid a visit to the offending minster and reamed him a new one and followed my mother in joining Church B.

That was in 1949. You'd think times would have changed since then, but sadly they have not. My father ended up becoming a minister himself for Church B and is now retired.

And I refuse to ever join Church A because of that incident so long ago.
