So how bad is the staffing at DLR???

Our "Spring" Job Fair has now been held seven times here in Orlando, twice in San Juan, once in Houston, and once at the Florida State Penitentiary. (Yes, boys and girls, WDW employs convicted felons on a "case-by-case basis".)

Your salary will be lower here, but so are housing costs and gas prices.

The stupidity -- guest and company -- is exactly the same.

Yet The past two weeks Our location has been cut to 32hours (yes during the busiest season) Heck Christmas week I am working 6 to 6.8 hour shifts They are begging us to ER and to take ADOs because THEY blew our budget for the year, and we are paying for it! I have been with Disney for 15 years and now I actually have to get a second job just to pay bills....but we keep hiring everyone and EVERYTHING we can, we are overstaffed and just got 7 brazillian CMs and 4 new CRs and 1FT (and they are actually giving hours to CTs!!!!!!!!!!). Is this happing elsewhere to folks at WDW or DLR?!!!!!

I've noticed how the desperation for working bodies has changed over the years in the way they advertise that DL is hiring.

When I was in high school (1996-2000) there would be billboards and radio commercials that Disneyland was hiring, usually right before the summer. The radio commercials would say how fun working at DL was and give the jobline number and Casting's address. One of those commercials was actually where I got the idea to apply at DL back in 2000.

Then sometime after I originally hired in they started advertising on the radio that CMs get into the parks for free. That really irritated me because I knew it would attract the wrong type of people, and I think I was right.

Now they're doing what I never expected them to do: advertise to guests on property. I saw a sign in World of Disney with some stupid tagline similar to the ones on the current radio commercials. There were also cards with the jobline number. If this isn't a sign of desperation, I don't know what is. What's next, TV commercials? Billboards in DTD? Recruiters passing out referral cards at the main gate? Or maybe they'll replace the Mickey planter with a big WE WANT YOU sign.

The sad part is, this could all have been avoided.

(I'm starting to worry about paying for grad school, can you tell?)

Go to school. Forget working at Disney. It isn't worth it anymore.

Kauai is finally becoming civilized. As soon as they can figure out how to get the construction costs down Kauai will have a Costco.
