That's because you don't work here. Things like this don't surprise me at all (any more). :(
Disney has no business running out of a commonly used condiment. It is inexcusable.
And you've been working in the field of logistics/retail/supply/distribution for how long now?

Many people enjoy salt on their pizza, myself included. If you were working a burger joint, would you consider a guest to be stupid if he didn't believe you when you told him you didn't have any ketchup?

Oh please. And people wonder why Americans are so fat! :D:

I literally have seen humongous people in Disneyland on their little motorized carts because they are just too large. I'm not one to pass judgement but I wish they could just attempt to get up and try to walk because rolling around on a little scooter isn't going to get you any skinnier.

Approaching 8 years, thank you. Someone else mentioned slow truckers; if you consistently have problems with deliveries arriving on time, either A) switch supply companies, B) accept the fact that deliveries are unreliable and over-order, or C) find an alternate supplier for "emergency" situations.

Yes, extreme circumstances do occur which cannot be predicted. In that situation, when a GOOD manager notices that salt is running low, why not ask one of the other concessions to "borrow" some? Or even run out to the local restaurant supply store and pick some up. These are all steps I have taken at one time or another.

How did this turn into an overweight issue? I address a logistics problem and basically get called fat? Firstly, I am anything but fat. Are you suggesting that Disney shouldn't bother running a good business because people are too fat anyway?

Anyway, I do agree with your statement about large people rolling around the park on scooters rather than walking and maybe burning a few calories.

you know, i work in a hospital, and on top of that, speaking from my parents point of view as well. some of those fat people are unable to walk becuase of illness or otherwise, and have become overweight because their illness limits them. anything from bad arthritis to diabetes to a thyroid condition can keep people off their feet and in those scooters. you know, i do acknowledge that there are exceptions, but i also know that people that HAVE to use them are about as happy using them as you CMs are about getting whining guest who complain about being hit by them. so yes, some folks, its probably their fault, but most people, id say not....oh well. let me give this sopa box to someone.

by the way. the salt? pizza and salt? come on. what the pizza isnt heart attack on a plate enough for ya? especially pepperoni....you need MORE salt? thats like asking for extra butter in your alfredo gravy.

Ok, if this is going to turn into a flamewar, I'm going to ask that the thread be locked. Keep it polite and nice people.

Oh, and SpamPutney, I would suggest that if you're going to hang around this site, you might want to contribute in ways other than threadcrapping. I just looked at your post history, and at least eight of your thirteen posts have been threadcrapping, or otherwise criticizing things that are posted by other members.

[quote="SpamPutney"]Someone else mentioned slow truckers]

Um, that would be me mentioning slow truckers. My parents were truck drivers for many, many years and I happen to know first hand that things like this [running totally out of salt] can happen and can't be stopped. Let's say, for example, all the salt packages were coming out of, oh, I dunno, somewhere in the Midwest. Now, in order to get all the salt from the Midwest to the West Coast you're gonna have to drive over a few mountain ranges. [The Rockies.] What if there's a snow storm? What if they close the roads? You're stuck until the local counties and officials say it's okay to pass.

Or, what if you had the misfortune of being caught in an avalanche? My parents got stuck in one for three days somewhere in western Wyoming. And, on top of that, if you're stuck, that means everyone else is stuck, too. You know what that means? NO SALT. That's something that switching supply companies won't fix, ya know?

I haven't seen any flaming going on here. I didn't take offense to anything said, other than being amused at the whole "fat" thing.

As for me "threadcrapping", I respectfully disagree. Although I did have a few exchanges in one forum regarding parenting that got a little heated, if you read all the posts you'll notice that we all parted on good terms.

If anyone was offended by my posts, you have my most sincere apologies. CerasiJ, I was not insulting or criticizing your parents or any other truckers. I think we can all agree that trucking is a difficult and thankless occupation.

I must say the thought of a West Coast-wide salt shortage made my chuckle to myself.
