Ya know, I wouldn't mind the new ODV land costume thingie. I mean, old schoolers had to go to costuming, call the office, find out what they're wearing, get the costume, and change...all before they started their shift. And we did this every single day.
But why do the Main Street costumes look so horrible??? I mean, why couldn't they just go back to the old red and white Coke Corner costume that we had before we went to all one costume for the entire park. The locations were themed that way. Yeah the pants sucked, you had to get pants 4 sizes bigger than what you normally wear, but at least they didn't look as horrible.
But current ODVers...use this as your motivation to become a stocker or IC. Well...think all stockers still wear Teals, and as an IC you get to wear the much more comfortable BoH costume. Ahhhhh, I loved those...especially the jackets.

ODV NEW COSTUME?
Re: ODV NEW COSTUME?
Don't judge a person until you walk a mile in his shoes. If you still don't like them, you'll be a mile away, and at least you'll have his shoes.
Re: ODV NEW COSTUME?
This is still the standard procedure every day at WDW's Magic Kingdom (we're the only park at WDW with seperate land costumes I believe). Not to mention, now that we have a new costume building, we have to park at Westclock, go into the building, call and get our location. Take the shuttle to the tunnel and go to your locker and change. If there is a problem with your costume or anything, you gotta take the shuttle back to costuming (it has happened many times before).PhilMP wrote:Ya know, I wouldn't mind the new ODV land costume thingie. Oh, and WDW's Main Street costume is the worst. The colors are like some kid ate peach ice cream and vomited it up (real light orange and green colors) mixed together in a plaid design. The pants are light blue capri things with itchy socks. Then you either got to wear a bow tie or hat. Surprisingly though, I get hit on the most when I'm in that costume.
We'll make a wish, and do as dreamers do...
Re: ODV NEW COSTUME?
I don't know HOW you deal with the new costume buildling. The last time I picked up a PAC shift at MK was just before they opened the new building, so I still was able to go to costuming in the tunnels... but it was still a pain to take all the extra time to go to work early - on your own time - and get your costume and change (I work front desk and guest services, so I wear the same costume no matter where I'm scheduled). I don't know HOW you deal with costume changes during a shift - riding the shuttle back and forth alone must take up at least 10-15 extra minutes of time that you're expected to already be back onstage.ODF'er wrote:This is still the standard procedure every day at WDW's Magic Kingdom (we're the only park at WDW with seperate land costumes I believe). The only benefit is that Magic Kingdom CMs can finally take costumes home and change at home before their shifts... assuming you know where you're working ;) My roomie was Tomorrowland custodial, so the lucky stiff *always* knew what he was wearing!
Re: ODV NEW COSTUME?
^ Same thing at Disneyland. It's helpful if you get off before closing to go get the costume you need for the next day. Even though costuming is open 2 hours after close I am usually too tired to deal with costuming at that time.
We're lucky our main costuming building is right by the Kennel so its pretty convienent (also where the heck else would you put it?)
