My Last Mistake?

Post by Zazu » Thu Feb 24, 2005 10:39 pm

I've pulled my fair share of screwups over the years. None that created serious injury (except to myself) nor turned a reasonable guest unreasonable, and I've skated on a couple of close ones. This time I may have done it good. (That is to say -- BAD.)

Main Street Station, my train about to depart, and I see a head coming up the exit ramp. Per my usual:

"Sorry sport, wrong way! This is the exit!"

"I know, it's okay."

"No it's not okay. It's not safe to enter attractions by the exit."

"No, it's really okay," he repeats, as he turns the corner and I recognize his face.

It's Phil.

Yeah, that one. Phil the Magic Kingdom Vice President. He's escorting a family with a wheelchair to the station mezzanine to watch the parade (instead of to the half-empty wheelchair viewing area across the street).

Oops.

"Um, yeah, okay, but wait behind the gate until the train leaves."

He opens the gate.

"No, really, you have to stay behind the gate or I can't move the train!"

"Oh, okay," he says, as he stands there holding the gate open for the guests.

"Could you please close that gate so the train can leave?"

He gives me the The Look, closes the gate long enough for me to signal the train to start, then opens it again and brings the family out while the train is still moving. I elect not to E-stop in hopes he hadn't yet seen my nametag.

So...... either I get an attaboy for doing my job, or......

Stay tuned, viewers! Next shift may be a perfect example of :hitfan:

"A little swordplay, now and then, keeps my mind off sheep!"

"You're messing with my Zen thing, man."

"Dreams are as portals,
flat visions of misty places,
fragments bound below my surface,
but I can write dreams,
they flow from me,
inscribed but now unbound,
I touch them,
and they are real,
and they are real."

Dude. If they get onto you for that. Then either start an argument or just leave. I know Disney (Im having my fair share of fights with managements at Coaster during certain times as well), but if they get onto you for actually DOING YOUR JOB and PUTTING SAFETY FIRST?

Hell, if they pull a repremand on you, give me a buzz, I'll send my friend over from Coaster who SIMPLY LOVES to fight with the Union, he'll get them involved, every other party in the incident involved AND NOT ONLY THAT...in a days time, he'll come back and say "It's been taken care of" (Card cleared)

aw geez, cry me a river. How can we expect the guests to follow CM instructions if our own higher ups insist on placing themselves and others in dangerous situations?

"How much are the mugs? Well the 13 large signs at eye level all say the mugs are $12.99.. so I'm gonna go with that."
