Re: Cast Member Confidential

Every CM should attempt to keep a journal of the things they've seen while working. I have, and I've collected quite a few stories, probably a bunch that shouldn't go on a website ;) Well, that's why this board exists - to share the wild, the wacky and the touching. Speaking as a former CM myself, ...

Re: An open letter to tonight's Candlelight Processional audience

Entertainment took over a few yrs. ago because of the DL Band & Dapper Dan's. Where there is music, Entertainment Dept. is involved. Flag Retreat isn't under DL Security control. Flag Retreat is NOT a show! It is a ceremony. CMs used to have to stop when crossing or near Flag Retreat. Sadly, no...

Re: Teenagers + Manners = not so much

You know, I tried to be an angel when I was a kid. Seriously, I never liked to go out to the mall with Mom and sis without a good book to read. (We're talking Lord of the Rings, not a comic book, for the record) Remember one occasion when I went with a friend to Disneyland and rode Autopia. Now, I K...

Re: Public Urination

Perhaps this is because Security does not fix doors, but rather Engineering. Also, it is every cast members responsibility, not just security, to challenge anyone 'tailgating' or backstage without appropriate credentials. MAPO Then I apologize to anyone from Security I offended. My point stands tho...

Re: Public Urination

OK, this is equal part pee in public, part that sometimes Disney won't do something until they have to. Where I worked at WOD in Anaheim, we had double doors that lead backstage with a security lock on them. Swipe your card, undo the lock, head in, no fuss, no muss. Well, one day, the lock broke. As...

Re: You Are In A Disney Park, Learn Your Disney Characters.

LOL, wow I've never thought I say this, but you guys seem to have even more clueless guests than we do. There is a good amount of guests that don't know who the characters are buy they usually ask before getting to them. Wow, and confusing Chip and Dale with Scritch... I'm speechless I tell you. I'...

Re: You Are In A Disney Park, Learn Your Disney Characters.

How about where is Anastasia? thinking about the non-disney movie. But, one of Lady Tramaine's daughters is named that too. I didn't work at Disney when Anastasia came out, so I was lucky enough to dodge that bullet. Of course, if someone did ask about Anastasia, I could honestly answer "Oh, y...

Re: You Are In A Disney Park, Learn Your Disney Characters.

If I had a dime for every time a Guest came up to me and asked for a non-Disney character, I'd be very rich. Tweety, Daffy Duck and Shrek were the most popular. But I'll admit, I got hit with one that stumped even me once. Working Guest Service on the WOD floor when a Guest comes up to me and asks a...

Re: Abusive parents

Still, suffice to say there are some truly awful ways the kids are mistreated by their parents at what should be the Happiest Place on Earth. I think it's borderline cruel to force your kid to go up to Mickey if he seems terrified of how big he is, for example. And I think we can consider the "...

Re: Abusive parents

I've got one. We were walking through Fantasyland. (of course the land of tantrums, screaming, and downright unacceptable behavior, oh yeah the kids act up too! ) See this little kid in the Dumbo line, tears streaming down his face. Mama who I swear looked about 19 if a day. She's all smiles, total...
