New Hires....

Post by littlehope » Thu Dec 16, 2004 1:29 am

How come when they hire people, they send them to the wrong departments. I'm sorry, if someone has a back problem sending them to dl-odv is not a good choice. Tda knows the requirements yet they still send them. We then train them for 3 days and then send them somewhere else (like village haus). I'm sorry if someone can not physically do a job put them somewhere else. i will admit that I shouldn't have been placed in odv for physical reasons but i survived. But it seems to be getting worse. Does any other department have this problem too? :?:

You mean, other than sending us folks without brains or a work ethic?

I know of one girl who tranffered and they placed her in a different location than promised and because of her medical problem had to be crosstrained on the promised location right away. They always send people who cannot handle the stress of working an attraction by themselves (or with just one other) to us at classics. Lately it seems to be worse I dunno like HR is just trying to fill positions and not think of the necessary qualifications that the people need. ( I've actually gotten parinoid and started reaffiming myself that things are changing by asking people with more senority than me.... "I wasn't like that when I started was I")

I like how every single time I walk into Mansion (yes I am there 4 days a week usually) there is one or two new faces. I'm all uh...when did you get trained here? I worked my first Pooh shift in only god knows how long last night and I didn't know half the crew. All the new hires I think figured it out pretty quickly that I wasn't new (bravo maybe they do have brains) because of the way the Lead and I were talking.

Oh well but I witnessed a few of these new hire PAs at Mansion (well pieces of them) and there were some things I had to shake my head at.

MAN, I'd like to know the answer to this! I've worked with a guy who lived in dire fear of people (in store ops, working alone when I went to lunch) in the old Premiere shop at the exit of the then very popular Rocket Rods. I also worked with a guy in Store Ops who was obviously not of sufficient IQ to run a cash register and all it's related duties. I used to cash him out at the end of the night and find he was $60 or more down, probably the victim of quick change artists.

TDA knows- and that's all that needs to be said. How else would and arthritic, asthmatic make it on to autopia?

we've been having new hire problems too, well, some of it's the new hires, and some of it it just that lack of work ethic that zazu was talking about. but you can tell by the end of thier first day of training if they're going to be a good fit or not. I didn't get to really work with any of the steam trains new hires, mostly only the indy ones, and some of them are kinda scary, a few of the guys that have been there a while are kinda scary too, because they've been at the attraction for at least as long as me, yet they continually ask questions about things that they should be more than well aware or, and just flat out don't pay attention to things, which can be a severe safety hazard particularly in the station. I'm probly going to talk to the leads about it next time i see an example of it happen. It might mean i have to really watch myself to make sure i'm not making any mistakes, but that'll just make the world a safer place.
