Re: Maria Von Trapp will not be down for breakfast
This can be very confusing to most people. THE Maria Von Trapp, the woman portrayed by Julie Andrews passed away in 1987. It is unfortunate that they both had the same name, but, this Maria is just one of the kids that were also depicted in the film. In this case, Louisa.
I know that the article kinda explained that in the story, but, many will just knee jerk and just see the name and stop there. Not overly important, but, I thought everyone should be aware.

I see the article points out that she was the last of the original members of the family. I seem to recall that they had 3 other children after coming to the US. Does anyone know if any of those 3 are still alive? I know there are extended family members still around.

On the news they made it sound as if Maria herself had passed; I thought, man, she's still alive? I don't know if this would work, but have you tried Ancestry dot com? I've been able to trace the descendants of Wilbur and Orville Wright, as well as Thomas Alva Edison. Quite interesting, really. Check Wikipedia, unless the Von Trapps have their own website.
