My last stupid guest trick ever!

Post by SRT_GB » Sat Sep 18, 2004 9:55 pm

On my last day, we had a guest come up to the DCA Stroller Shop in their own ECV. They claimed that when they came into the park, the ticket taker didn't open the wheelchair/stroller gate all the way and their wheel snagged on the gate and snapped off the valve stem on their tire, basically making it useless. So they came complaining to us that it's our fault, that the ticket taker should have opened the gate all the way blah blah blah. So of course our lead and manager comped them an ECV. Problem was, given the direction that the wheelchair gates open at DCA, if his story was true he should have blown one of his left tires, but it was one of the right tires. I'm sure the reason he snagged his tire was because he just didn't turn correctly to get into the gate. And the ticket takers knew it was the guest's own fault, that's why their lead didn't comp them anything.

Of course when they were about to leave they came bitching at us again saying it was our fault (which it wasn't) and that they wanted parking to come out with a club car to take their own ECV back to their car. :bang:

I later found out that one of the kids in the party told one of the adults within earshot of one of our CMs that it was their own fault and the adult said, "don't tell them that."

I would've liked to see the end of this story but I was off and I didn't want to stick around any longer than I had to on my last day.

Awww...I cannot believe you didn't point that out to the guest. You should have made them feel stupid for lying to you guys!

do you have a key that can make those things go any slower than they already do, i know you guys have a fast key, but the guests get a slow key, you should have a slower than slow key for annoying guests. I demand that you come back to the resort immediatly and make that happen, preferably before the next rainy day.

There is no "slow key" but for whatever reason some of the ECVs are known to go a lot slower than others even when fully charged. Unfortunately they would just come back to us and switch them out and sometimes bitch at us in the process. When we first got this batch of ECVs about 2 years ago they all moved at a snail's pace and we ended up giving out so many refunds from people complaining how slow they went.

Oh if you ever want a "red key" or a "fast key" I've seen so many things used as red keys, from metal pen clips to screwdrivers. Stroller pins worked best for me. Supposedly some teenagers got their APs revoked a few years ago because they were taking the pull pins off the strollers and using them to steal ECVs. I could tell when I would do stroller repair when a pull pin was deliberately taken off by a guest or cast member to use as an ECV key. Problem is, removing the pull pins is a big safety issue for those strollers. We once had a big incident where a stroller collapsed with a child in it because the pull pin either fell out or had been pulled out.

so essentially you stick a metal peice in there and it makes it go fast w/o a speed inhibit.
