That too bad. I liked Andy Williams, but bladder cancer aside...84 is a long life. At 84 you could just wake up dead some morning. No assistance needed. :(SG I Yam wrote:Dead at the age of 84. Bladder cancer. sigh.

I have one of his albums on CD; he narrates stories from his life, like how he got his start, and of course "Moon River' is on it. I love that song. I just wish my CD player worked. I've been told that the laser or something wears out really fast on them, but I've had CD players for years and they were okay until they fell apart. Someone on here told me how to fix it, but I've forgotten them. Can y'all help? And if it's the laser, can it be replaced and how much would I expect to pay? And where would be a good place to get it fixed?

Nice guy. In my first year with the VM, we recorded a video birthday greeting to him for his 80th, singing a snippet of "Moon River" and then our full harmony arrangement of "Happy Birthday." Rest in peace, Mr. Williams.

Found the fix-it instructions this morning while looking for something else--still need to know if the part that wears out can be replaced or not. It's getting so hard to find a CD player anymore that doesn't have a bunch of whatsits attached, or isn't a portable.

My first thought was how can we have Christmas without Andy Williams. I love that type of music. So much smoother than the stuff you hear today.

You've got to turn those hearing aids up when you put the LP on the stereo.GRUMPY PIRATE wrote:if only there was a way to hear his music...

sorry, I digitized all my old LP's long ago.GaTechGal wrote:You've got to turn those hearing aids up when you put the LP on the stereo.
mostly Chicago, BS&T, cream, Creedence, etc.
and my hearing is fine because I don't use "ear buds" that are causing hearing loss in our "yutes"
