Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party SG
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party SG
My mom, sister, grandma, and I are in "the world" right now. We went to the last Mvmcp on Dec. 18. We were at the front of main street looking towards the castle. Noone on main street is moving everyones taking pictures etc. Well this woman behind my mom kept hitting the back of mom's legs with a single disney stroller with a 4-5 year old princess in it. The little girl kept saying "excuse me" and "can you move?" My mom turned around and said nicely something along the lines of "honey no one is moving so I can't move". Her mother flipped out on my mom yellling at her for being "rude" to her daughter. The best part was the little girl's Grandma started yelling at her daughter for being rude and disrespectful.

YES! This is what we see All the Time! Parents who can process no more than their toddlers, yet use their grown-up mouths to bully everyone around them. Grandma was probably dying from embarassmentI am Sam wrote:My mom, sister, grandma, and I are in "the world" right now. We went to the last Mvmcp on Dec. 18. OK, so my wife and I went to MVMCP on Dec. 16th for the first (and last) time just to see what it was about, and for the special parade and fireworks.
Anyway, we sat down on the curb in front of Tony's about an hour before the parade, and a few minutes later, a group of about 10 (4 adults, 6 kids) sits down next to us. I look over, and none of them have wrist bands on, and it's already around 7:20. I casually mentioned that the MK was closed at 7 for the party, and the lady humphed and said that they paid admission for today, paid for dinner at Crystal Palace, and were going to stay for the parade. She was quite rude about it, go figure. Well, I just said OK, and about 20 minutes later the CM showed up looking for wrist bands, and then informed them they would have to leave (she was extremely polite, but firm). Lady then stated that CM at Crystal Palace told her it was OK for them to stay (they hadn't moved at all yet). Polite CM said that she was sorry that she was misinformed, but the park was closed for the party, and they would have to leave. SGs humphed again about lousy service, and gathered their stuff. They went behind us, trying to hide from the CMs, but I noticed another CM closer to the exit spot them, and he made sure they exited.
What the heck do people think?!?!?!?

I am so glad that the Cms are able to enforce this now. When we attended the Christmas party in 2009, it appeared that they were not enforcing the wristbands other than at the attractions. the streets were over run with non wristbanded guests, and you could not move due to the crowds. we attended 2 partys that trip, and the one on the rainy night was so much better as the weather kept the crowds home. 2 days later the weather cooperated and it was the busiest I have ever seen MK. from what I could tell they gave raincheck of some sort to a lot of the folks on the rainy night, and they all came back to the next party.
Has something changed regarding encorcing the wristbands ? Or are there just now enough CMs on duty to do the enforcing now ?

For the hard ticket events that I've gotten to do park clear for, it'd take having done the clear yourself before to dodge the sweep, as it's pretty comprehensive and has multiple layers on main street. This was for the 2010 season, but I know Main St Ops managers have always made an effort.delsdad wrote:Has something changed regarding encorcing the wristbands ? It was 2009 that we were at the Christmas partys, on Parade taping weekend. Never again for that weekend !kurtisnelson wrote:For the hard ticket events that I've gotten to do park clear for, it'd take having done the clear yourself before to dodge the sweep, as it's pretty comprehensive and has multiple layers on main street. And I noticed that the CMs asking people to please clear the park were all very nice and understanding, but very firm that you must have a wristband to stay. Kudos to all of them!kurtisnelson wrote:For the hard ticket events that I've gotten to do park clear for, it'd take having done the clear yourself before to dodge the sweep, as it's pretty comprehensive and has multiple layers on main street. The night we went, the party was sold out, and I have NEVER seen the MK that crowded, and I've been going there since 1978! We could barely move on Main Street for the fireworks, and after, we took over 20 minutes to get to Liberty Square!delsdad wrote:I am so glad that the Cms are able to enforce this now. I think Disney is GREATLY overselling the number of tickets for the parties. We were invited to submit a survey (which we filled out!), and we were told to be brutally honest. Well, they got an "earful" about the crowds and lack of merchandise. We won't go to another one until we have grandchildren to take.

Re: Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party SG
Parties are supposed to be capped at ~30k, which is way less than normal parade-evening peak of 40-50. On NYE, approximately 22k people are crammed onto the parade route, so at 30k and two parades, there is plenty of space.goofy1978 wrote:I think Disney is GREATLY overselling the number of tickets for the parties. Thanks! I guess it just appeared to be busier. We were just fine when we got to Liberty Square, but getting there was a hassle.kurtisnelson wrote:Parties are supposed to be capped at ~30k, which is way less than normal parade-evening peak of 40-50.
