What is new in the parks this year

Post by avengador1 » Fri Sep 02, 2011 7:03 pm

I'll start with Disney's Hollywood Studios. The 'Lights, Motors, Action Extreme stunt show' now features an appearance of Lightning McQueen and a villain Gremlin as part of the show. The Star Tours ride has a new high definition screen in the queue with new short movies, C3PO has two golden legs now, the pre-boarding movie is new, and the new ride movie has random elements to it and is in 3D. C3PO is also the pilot of the Star Tours ship now. The old pilot robots can be seen in the queue and they are labelled defective. They also come alive from time to time. There is a new robot screning luggage and another screening passengers using an infrared camera. The silhouette shadow show might also be different. Disney certainly put some effort into updating this ride. Here is a shot from the Lights, Motors, Action show from today.

Speaking of new births, there was an elephant born in August at Disneys Animal Kingdom. ;)

Last week the siamangs had a baby so there's been births to animals at either end of the gestation period length. Elephants are pregnant for 22 months (any of the women on here want to be pregnant that long? :) ) while siamangs are pregnant only 6-8 weeks.

Speaking of the Animal Kingdom, I was there today and they are still working on the Primeval Whirl, as they have been for months now. I wonder when it is going to re-open. I also saw that the Flights of Wonder was being renovated and is closed too.

There's no date set that I've seen on the reopening of Primeval Whirl. I'm not sure they've restarted work after a maintenance worker was killed back in March.

I don't know what kind of work they're doing to Flights of Wonder. I'm assuming it's work on the theater and set. It's rescheduled to reopen on the 11th.

Looks to me they might have restarted work on Primeval Whirl. Around noon I had to take care of something at the front of the park and on my way back through Dinoland I saw one side of Primeval cycling.

Thanks again for the information. The Primeval Whirl is one of my favorite rides.
