It must be a slow news day in Orlando!

Apparently E.T at USO had a ride stop, this is also apparently news worthy since the fire department was called.

The funny part of that is, I can't remember a single place along the ride path where you can't step directly onto an evac path from the vehicle. Hmm.

Up here a Ladder Truck is the big one they use for apartment fires. E.T. is inside a building, how'd they use that to rescue people? :)

One would think that's what they meant. Maybe they meant something like a scissor lift. They said they were only 8-10 ft off the ground.

The town I lived in on the Mainland had a fire truck equipped with a cherry picker boom system that had a large platform attached. The truck was nearing end of useful life so it was auctioned off and a new truck purchased.

The buyer intended to resell it to a small FD in the valley but he and his friends decided to get some use out of it first. They all bought blue work shirts and pants and would cruise around looking for ways to use it to fire up parties.

This was all taking place around the time that the Super Bowl was played at Stanford Stadium. A week before the game was played rings of security were placed around the stadium.

The fire truck guys, seeing a challenge and an opportunity, loaded up the truck with food, beer and folding chairs, put on the blue suits, and headed to the stadium. Security magically parted in front of them so they went for the gold and parked the truck on the outside of the stadium at the 50 yard line. They loaded the food, beer and chairs on the platform and raised it up over the rim of the stadium. No one questioned them so they watched the entire game from what might have been the best seats in the house.

Hobie, you now have me feeling conflicted.

The responsible part of me says that those guys could have gotten into a lot of trouble for impersonating members of the fire department. Even worse, what could have happened if a fire actually broke out?

The more mischievous part of me applauds their chutzpah in pulling that off.

It's not like they told anyone they were firemen. They just used the old, if you look like you belong you do belong trick.

True, they may not have actually said "We are firemen". However, if you have a group of people riding in what very much looks like a fire truck, wearing clothing that you normally see fire fighters wear, well....

I used to have a shirt that said FBI on the back, purchased from the actual FBI. I also have a lanyard that says "Secret Service" on it, also purchased from the same agency. If I wear these, am I impersonating either of these agencies?
