Here's Your Sign. Government Version.

Post by MouseKiss » Thu Jul 21, 2011 10:25 pm

I hope I am not stepping on any HYS toes but I thought this was too good to not post.

I work for a city water and wastewater department and I had a literal HYS the other day. While working emergency callout recently I received a call that there was a problem with the water at a local park. The answering service sends me the citizen’s phone number and I call to get a handle on the problem. A woman answers and after introductions she starts to harangue me about how the water feature at one of the local parks was not working. She tells me she brought her kids here to play and they are really upset and why isn’t the water coming out and she pays her taxes… blah blah blah. I tell her I will be there ASAP to check on the problem. The water feature is one of those that spray water from ground nozzles and there are a couple of arches that spray water that the kids can run through. It is similar to the Goofy Pop Jet Playground at the Pop Century resort. When I pull up to the park I see a woman and a couple of kids near the water feature, I also see something else about ten feet to the side of the entrance. As I start walking toward the woman I am thinking, “Can I really say it?” She sees me, and since I am in uniform so she starts walking toward me. We meet at the sidewalk entrance to the water feature and I know I am going to do it.

I smile and say “Good evening ma’am, (I point to the right to a small sign posted in the ground, and say, “Here’s your sign!”

She looks confused  then follows my hand and reads the sign, “Water off due to maintenance.”

She looks back at me, “Oh, I See.” “Sorry for the trouble.” :o:

I just say, “Yes, ma’am. Have a good evening.” :D: And I walk away with the biggest grin on my face, thinking about all those HYS posts from INDY and everyone else that I have been reading the last week.

I will try and remember some SGT stories from my time at SFOT way back in 1985, but WDW is my favorite park since my first visit in June, 1977.

Tom

PS.
The nickname is a hubby-wife thing. Seemed fitting for Disney.

Well, that's a refreshing first post! :sgthello: , MouseKiss. Since you've been lurking a while, you know the drill. Here's an umbrella. No, it doesn't have any protective qualities, but I've always wanted to see that Wiley Coyote effect in real life.

Beer will follow, and then there will be cake.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Thanks for the Pepsi.

This morning on the radio they were asking if you could go back in time to an historical event what would you like to see or do.

The other announcer immediately replied, "I would like to go back to when they repealed Prohibition."

I thought, "That sounds like something Darph would say." :)

Greetings MouseKiss, I am the resident dragon and would like to offer you a very warm* welcome to that slice of the internet we call SGT. This website contains threads with quick twists and turns and I would like to advise you to not try too hard to keep up with them. Please keep your hands, arms, and legs safely inside the website at all times and enjoy your stay.

*this instance of warm is actually hot**... very hot

**this instance of hot means that you are now literally on fire, I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for any inconvenience

We have cake now?

MouseKiss, glad to have you here -- as a fellow Collin County resident who also works for local government! :D:

Bringing on friends?

Now I want to know what park, so I can go there and laugh at people.
