Another Discussion From Board x How many can fit in a Doom Buggy

Post by chartle » Sun May 15, 2011 9:29 am

Any HM Cm's out there?

Right now on board x there is a discussion about how many can fit in a Doom Buggy. The OP wants to know if their family of 2 adults, one small 11 yr old, and a tiny 7 yr old (size of a 3 yr old) can fit.

Well the consensus was two adults and one maybe under 10 child was the max and they should split up.

Well now a semi "heated" discussion is starting with posters claiming that other course more than three can fit. Its like a how many people can you fit in a phone booth.
We are obviously in the minority here, lol - but yes, you can all fit. We have four and we have always ridden together. It is me (on the small side), my DH (medium to large sized ), DS 12 (same size as me, lol), and DD 5 (on the tiny side). I don't recall us being overly cramped last year (I don't think my DD even sat on our lap or anything).
My family of 5 fit in one happily at DL last year...a 5 year old, 3 year old, and 8 month old at the time plus DH and I, of course.
We fit Dh, our then 7 year old, our then 5 year old, our then 10 month and I in one at DL last summer without any issue. Dh and I are average size. My oldest is super skinny but my son is average sized.

Growing up my family of 5 always rode in one until the 3 of us kids were teenagers and I can't ever remember feeling squished.
So how many SG have you seen try to squeeze into a Doom Buggy?

As a side note. There was a post that said that at DL during a busy day that the CMs insisted that 3 people be in each Buggy and that a mother a daughter had to ride with a stranger.

It seems to me like they should just split up. Two can fit comfortably, and three is a tight squeeze. Four is unheard of to me, though I'm sure people have pulled it off.

Either one adult can go with each child, or the kids and the adults can go in separate cars. It's not like they're going to go anywhere while they're in the attraction :D:

Gawrsh, yah-huh!

I've done that on Thunder. Ask me if I am sorry. I have also put families of five into one row on Safari, even after they split themselves up into two rows... except that one time when some of the trucks had 8 rows and some had 9... One family split themselves into rows 8 and 9, so they wound up on two different trucks.

If you don't follow directions, the consequences are all yours.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

After getting our boat stuck, the only ride that we say 2 and 2 is PoC. Two trips ago the CM put all 4 of us, all, let me do the cyphering, I would say over 700 lbs of us in the first row of a boat.

I think we were stuck right before the bride auction. This was after the last refurb and we first thought that maybe they group up the boats and then "do the show" after a long 5 or so minutes a CM came out of no where and told all us matees to put up our arms and lean back and forth. It took a few back and forths to make it work.

I have evidence that disproves this point.

There's a reason there's now cargo netting between the track and Madam Leota!

And just for the record, the correct answer for the maximum number of bodies in a Doombuggie is "as many as the CM at the load position tells you."

More proof of my geekiness: My first thoughts at seeing the second picture was "Gee, it would have been better if they were wearing masks from "Power Rangers in Space"...."

Three fatties in a HM Doombuggy is the most I've done. It was me and two of my friends, and we're fat. It was uncomfortable but so hilarious at the same time.

My personal record was @ Calico Mine Ride. Cars can hold 10 adults semi-comfortably normally. I had 15 teenagers hoping that I'd give them two cars for themselves.

Two things:
-It was during Halloween Haunt
-It was a busy night

So with those facts in mind, I figured I'd try and beat the then-standing record of 12 in one ore car. Needless to say, 15 young adults were squeezed into one ore car @ Calico Mine Ride that night. And my lead gave me a hi-five for managing 15 in one car. But I think those CMs on Buzz have me outdone.

RIP Bud Hurlbut.

You will be missed.
