Interview on Tuesday!

Post by MyLittleAngels » Fri May 13, 2011 7:39 am

So, I got through the web-based interview, and have an appointment this Tuesday at casting. Any advice? I know to smile, and I interview well anyhow, and I'll dress appropriately ... I know they need people in monorails right now, so I'm considering "asking" for a position with them.

Is there anywhere else I should consider? Or anything I should be sure to say (or not to say, that isn't already completely obvious)? I'm just going for parttime, and I don't really need the job, but the extra income would be nice. Mostly I want the perks, and the money earned will likely head to more time spent with horses. :)

A friend of mine had a full time job elsewhere, but he wanted to be a monorail pilot worse than anything. He asked my advice, and took it:

He told them he wanted to be a monorail pilot more than anything, and was available to work only weekends and holidays because of his "day job". They asked him if he'd consider a different position, and he said no, but he'd be happy to be on a waiting list until something came open.

It worked; they offered him a CR monorail role starting the following Saturday.

That said, know that it may be a while before you're given "drive training". You'll probably spend six months to a year on the platform before you are considered. Or they could drive train you after 90 days, it's all a matter of how fast attrition occurs.

As for considering a different role, do you want one? Is custodial or quick service better than not having the job? Yes, it's easier to transfer than to hire in, but you have to do six months of something else before you qualify for a transfer. Tough call.

If a monorailer gives you advice, take it.

Good luck!

My husband went in to interview for attractions and actually walked out with a job in monorails. And he said that he didn't say anything out of the ordinary. So who knows.

You can get a CR job in Monorails, but you will not get CT there. They are not allowing any Seasonal Cast in that department at this time, and only a select few who transferred out are allowed to keep their proficiencies there (i.e. not me).

One thing I would look into is working with the horses at Disney if that's something you have experience doing and love. Again, it may take time, but could be worth it in the end.

Then, there's always Safari...

Well, I got the job and I head to Traditions on Thursday! For now I'll be working in merch at MK, seasonally for the summer, and I may try to transfer around after the "season" is over.

Very excited, can't wait to start!

Congratulations! As Seasonal, that is a great direction to go, and I have had thoughts of putting in for that sort of a transfer.
