"The Jim Henson Hour" from 1989.
It seems that Jim Henson was trying to create a modern day Muppet show.
This show was short-lived and did not last long.
It sort of reminds me of another short-lived Muppet Show reboot; "Muppets Tonight" from 1997.
In my opinion, I think that one of the reasons that neither of these shows lasted long was the fact that there was too much of an emphases on new Muppet characters and not enough of the classic characters.
During the production of both shows, Frank Oz was busy with directing and as a result, his characters rarely appeared on these shows.
In recent years, another Muppeteer has taken over Frank's characters.
From what I have seen, most people have fond memories of The Muppet Show.
So at this point, if they ever want to try a new Muppets series again, they should probably make it just like the classic Muppet Show, with the characters putting on a show in a theater. People love nostalgia.
Of course, the good news is that the Muppets have a new movie coming to theaters in November!
How many of you remeber this?...

Re: How many of you remeber this?...
I remember the "Jim Henson Hour" and I tried to watch it whenever I could. I liked that it showed other Muppets other than Kermit and his friends. Jim Henson also used computer graphics and animation -something a bit ahead of its time.
I was also a devout "Muppet Show" watcher when I was very small. I loved that show so much, that my parents had to tape the shows. I would cry if it wasn't on! (I guess the show aired every other week or so.)
"Muppets Tonight" was a shadow of the former shows. i liked Clifford, but perhaps Kermit should have been the host. I also did not like Miss Piggy's nephews-they were irritating! I hope they are not in the new movie.
There are some "Jim Henson Hour" specials on DVD. There is "Dog City the Movie" (drcorey will like this one-lots of great bad puns), and "Song of the Cloud Forest". There is also a seperate dvd of the "Storyteller" specials which I think sometimes aired on the "Jim Henson Hour"
I miss Jim Henson!!!

Yes, I forgot to mention that from what I have seen of The Jim Henson Hour, I liked. and I did kind of enjoy Muppets Tonight. Although the fact that many of Frank's characters were rarely around really made the show suffer a bit.
I gotta say though, I love Pepe!
