Employees stand by and do nothing, while another records customers beating up on another customer. :mad:

Speechless

"A little swordplay, now and then, keeps my mind off sheep!"

"You're messing with my Zen thing, man."

"Dreams are as portals,
flat visions of misty places,
fragments bound below my surface,
but I can write dreams,
they flow from me,
inscribed but now unbound,
I touch them,
and they are real,
and they are real."

Actually it says one employee and a customer tried to intervene. Which surprised me, to be honest -- seems like it's usually either the crowd cheering on the thugs or bystanders just standing around in shock.

I was glad to see that the worker who filmed it got fired. Not justice but at least there were some negative consequences for his (her?) cruelty.

Especially when the employee filming it actually helped the attackers evade arrest.

Now now, there is absolutely no need to insult animals by associating them with these...things...

A few thoughts:

While they should not have attacked anyone, I can understand how, if they didn't know this person was a "transgendered" individual, they might mistake this as some pervert dressing in drag to lurk in the ladies room.

As to the employees not rushing in to break up the fight, many business tell their employees not to do that, as they don't want the employee getting hurt, or the fight to be escalated by increasing the number of people, not to mention not wanting someone to sue them on the grounds of excessive use of force.

However, that being said, if the women who attacked this individual actually did understand who they were, then they should be prosecuted for this crime. Also, and it probably goes without saying, if an employee did attempt to help the attackers evade the police, then he should be taken in for obstruction of justice and such.

I have no issue with a employee filming what is going on, if said video is then to be shown to the police.

There was no apparent attempt for the attackers to determine the situation and ask for outside intervention-they just attacked.Repeatedly. Others tried to stop them, so it must have been obviously a hate crime. To stand by and calmly film someone being severely beaten -I can't imagine. I refused to view the video. :(
I posted long ago about a guy I saw in the women's bathroom at a Rush Concert, urinating with the door OPEN- Never once thought of attacking him, but DID report him. :cool:

Yes.

I think that it goes back to a comment that I made on another thread;

There is now a whole generation of kids who have had access to the Internet their wholes lives. They have been spoiled by the Internet so much, that when they see people fighting, they think "Ooh! I can put this on youtube!" and then start to film it.

And to build on that;
All the people who have had Internet access their whole lives just think of it as a game. They upload, comment, and do whatever they want, and don't realize that there can be consequences for their actions. They think of the Internet as an imaginary world where they are safe and free to upload and say whatever the hell they want. Very often exposing their true colors in the process.

I realize that there have been plenty of awareness campaigns to teach people to be careful of what they say and do online, but most people don't care, they are all too ignorant to care.

Its gotten to the point where I have stopped making comments in most places, especially youtube. I also choose to hide the comments on safe mode. Because let's face it, most people on the Internet don't give a crap about what someone else thinks. Usually if someone has a different opinion, the other individual will bite their head off....OR at best, they will say something like; "That's nice, but I'm still right."
As a matter of fact, there have been few rare instances of that happening on SGT in the past, but let's not name names.

Sorry to go off on that, but think that its all relevant.

Many things to say about this video:

Many times over, ignorance and hate makes humankind itself the antithesis of what is humane.

There's no such thing as innocent bystanders. Taking no action is the same as contributing to the violence. If the attackers had guns, then yes I could understand why they would hesitate to take action. But to stand around and not do anything in this situation--not even call the cops--is just appalling.

I wish to roundhouse kick those stupid teenagers and the idiot who filmed it.
