Another fire at Universal Hollywood

Post by CBeilby » Fri Apr 15, 2011 1:42 am

I'm listening to LACoFD communications via internet radio, and as I type, Station 51 and Burbank City Fire are in response to a fire at the Earthquake sound stage. They've just called for a second alarm, and Battalion 1 is in response. Also, at least one engine (LACoF Engine 7) has been involved in a minor TA while in response.

Do we have any current USH people who can give a more detailed report when they find out something?

I thought Station 51, like Rampart General Hospital, were sets from the old "Emergency!" TV show back in the 60s.

This brings back memories-- I really liked that show as a kid. I used to have the "Emergency" board game!

The on lot station was numbered 51 in honor of the show sometime in the mid 1990s. I can't remember the original number for the Universal City station. The station used in the show was actually Station 127, in Carson, and has been named the Robert A Cinader Memorial Fire Station, for the co-creator of the show.. 51 was used for the show because, at the time, it wasn't in use as a station designation by LA County Fire. Incidentally, all the exterior shots of Rampart were Harbor/UCLA Medical Center (Although it was only UCLA Medical Center at the time.)

Who was in Medical Center. The medical cast of Emergency! were Robert Fuller, Bobby Troup, Julie London, and Ron Pinkard.

(Yes, I am a huge E! geek. What do you expect? I grew up watching the show.)

I'm a youngin' so Emergency! was before time but I loved watching the reruns when I was younger. An excellent show. I also enjoyed Adam 12 and Dragnet (the '67-'70 remake). Jack Webb knew how to make good shows.

Just the facts ma'am, just the facts.

Did you know Joe Friday never actually said that?
Wikipedia wrote:While "Just the facts, ma'am" has come to be known as Dragnet's catchphrase (it has been copied and parodied many times by other productions), it was never actually uttered by Joe Friday. The closest lines were, "All we want are the facts, ma'am" and "All we know are the facts, ma'am".
From here.

I didn't realize that myself until I checked the Wikipedia article for the correct years of the Dragnet series I watched.
