Not new. Quite a few years ago,UofA fans boo'd UNLV fans at a local resturant. I'm glad I wasn't there,I would have been soooo embarrassed. :(
I take it you've never been to England during soccer season.

Stories like this have a habit of becoming incredibly sensationalized; it doesn't take much for ill-conceived ideas to spread across the public sphere, especially when the story plays on emotion and not logic or fact. The fact of the matter is, crime statistics as a whole (as it relates to violent crime) are far lower at sporting events than at your everyday "on the beat" location. 0.5 per 100,000 rate for agg. assault is far better than the regional average of around 300 per 100,000. Any time you see a density of 50,000 people per less than one square mile, it's quite remarkable that you don't have more of these incidents. These things happen everywhere, it's not difficult to find references, from Basketball or Football to Soccer or Tennis, fights, brawls, and riots can break out anywhere for any reason. Just like the wildfire spreading of a sensationalized news story, a small fight can become an all out riot due to the same reason (if they say it, it must be true; if they do it, it must be okay)

Welcome to last week.

"A little swordplay, now and then, keeps my mind off sheep!"

"You're messing with my Zen thing, man."

"Dreams are as portals,
flat visions of misty places,
fragments bound below my surface,
but I can write dreams,
they flow from me,
inscribed but now unbound,
I touch them,
and they are real,
and they are real."

Don't forget to add to the list air traffic controllers falling asleep on the job and toddlers getting served alcohol by accident.

That, and the fact that there is a whole generation of kids who have had access to the Internet their whole lives.
Darn spoiled teens.
