Attempted Bribery

Post by Cheshire Figment » Thu Jan 06, 2011 9:01 pm

At the Gate Team Meeting this morning at DHS it was mentioned that a couple of days ago a tour guide tried to get his group of about 45 people in the Exit. Even offered $100 cash to the CM at Exit to allow it to happen. I was unable to get full details, but understand that the group did not get in.

I'd say, "Really, really, REALLY?!?!?! SERIOUSLY???" $100 is not worth it to lose a job over it. I mean, how stupid can that CM be??

A guest tried to give me $5 to break the rules for them, $5!!!!!

He probably maxed out his CC just getting to WDW and that's all he had left. :o:

Seriously, though, there are 2 well used phrases that seem to apply here.

"I doesn't hurt to try" and

"You can't fix stupid"

A pat on the back to the CM for doing the right thing.

No kidding, I'd want minimum $20 a head.

In the couple of instances when someone has tried to bribe me (and believe me, I've not been in jobs where one normally expects bribes), I let the person know I would not accept less than a lump sum of cash that was equal to what I would expect to make during a life time of working at that job, including health benefits. After all, if I'm going to be risking my livelihood, I want something of equal value to my risk.

It's an interesting question. My DH used to work in banking, and some of the folks there used to play the game of "how much" to see just what the number would be to run the risk of prison. They were constantly amazed when they read about folks that had embezzeled for some paultry sum.

If you're gonna embezzle you gotta go for Bernie-sized money.

I remember one time when I was working at Knott's some dumb kid tried to bribe me to let him ride the Huff'N'Puff--$1! I of course refused--he was too tall, and what he was doing in Camp Snoopy which is intended for kids under 12 with accompanying adult on certain rides I don't know. I think I told him to go ride Montezooma's Revenge or something. And I refused the dollar--talk about insulting! Yeesh!
