Tangled?

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Tangled?
wow, dead already.
You could dump 15000 kids in the parks and maybe one can point out Rapunzel, if they are lucky...
wonderful, took disney 10 years to finalize the script,
and it bites big time.
come on Disney,
lets see which 200 year old fairy tale you can masticate next...

I haven't seen Tangled yet so I can't form an opinion on the story. Marketing-wise, I really didn't see a point in changing the name from Rapunzel to Tangled.
There was only one animated show that got twisted fairy tales right and that was the Rocky and Bullwinkle shows.
Your mention of Tangled brought to mind the movie Bolt.
I was watching it the other night and wondered if it would have been a better movie if Bolt was really a superhero and not an actor. That the perils he and Penny faced were real and not part of a TV show. Maybe that's going into Incredibles territory, but it's just a thought.
I like Bolt the character, but I think the movie could have been better!

Actually no. Gnomeo and Juliet was NOT produced by Disney Animation. It was made by Starz Animation and is being distributed by Touchstone Pictures.
Disney Animation had nothing to do with it, their hands are clean.
Knowledge is power.
I'm actually surprised that you mentioned Bolt in such a way. I actually like Bolt a great deal. And everyone whom I have personally talked to has liked the movie.
John Lasseter; (director of Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Toy Story 2, Cars, and executive producer of all other Pixar films) was the executive producer of Bolt, and had big hand in the movie.
Bolt had some Pixar touches.
Having Bolt be a real super dog would have been far too cliche and boring. That was not the kind of movie that they wanted to make. In the end though he does save Penny from real peril.
This is something that I really feel strongly about. To be honest, It really hits a nerve for me when I hear someone speak badly of Bolt.
It was a good movie, with endearing characters, humor, and lots of heart and emotion, and nothing will make me change my mind.
It was not a bad film! It was a good film, it got good reviews and it made more money world-wide than The Princess and the Frog.
And while I did kind of enjoy The Princess and the Frog and Tangled, I still like Bolt better.
I actually wouldn't mind if Disney would take a break from fairly tales. I'm kind of getting tired of them, and its not like they don't have enough princesses.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I loved Bolt. It had a good story, good characters and no one will change my mind. And I would appreciate if no one would push my buttons on this topic.

...By the way, since I can no longer edit my previous post, I want to add that I was NOT trying to be nasty or mean with my "knowledge is power" comment. I was just trying to make a point.
And I would like to say that I did not mean to sound harsh. As I said, I just feel strongly about this.

I like Tangled :cheerldr: fun movie and so far (from what I have seen) the kids loved it, even boys. It was a funny story (at least I thought so) and the characters were hilarious, we loved the villain. We loved Princess and the frog too, and good Lord did we heard criticism over that movie, but for us it was so much fun, first Princess movie that made me cry.

Re: Tangled?
I saw most of Tangled, missed parts of it to take the 5 year old to the restroom, then the end of it when the 2 year old decided to steal her sisters seat. That almost resulted in loud screaming and such, so we left and waited for the others in the hall. I think my 5 year old is a good judge of entertainment, hates Justin Bieber, loved Tangled, Princess and the Frog, and her favorite toy is her stuffed Bolt. She loves that movie!

Re: Tangled?
Generally speaking, Disney Animation has been much better since John Lasseter became chief creative officer in 2007.
That means that he will continue to be the executive producer of ALL projects from Disney Animation. He believes that quality is the best business plan.
And keep in mind that the executive producer is usually the one who picks everyone else on the project, including the director.
Honestly, I enjoyed Bolt, The Princess and the Frog, and Tangled. but Bolt is still my favorite. And as I said, I really am getting a little tired of fairly tales. I wouldn't mind if they took a little break from princess movies.
So, while not everything will be everyone's cup of tea, rest assured that every project from Disney Animation is made with quality in mind.
Quality has become top priority again.

Re: Tangled?
The new Pooh Bear movie looks really good and I like how they went back to the original books for the story. I am not a huge Pooh Bear fan, but from what I've seen so far makes me want to see the new film.
I liked Princess and the Frog a lot and I wished it had performed better.
For Bolt fans, I saw a new Bolt plush for Valentine's day at Disneyland. He is about 6 inches tall and is holding a rose in his mouth. His lightning bolt is pink and has a heart on it. Super cute! I can't wait to add to my other Bolt plushies. I have a huge one from the Disney Store among others. :)
