Hollywood to Disneyland...

Post by delsdad » Fri Oct 29, 2010 7:46 pm

This question is for you southern California folks...

One of my daughters daycare teachers is heading to the LA area next week. The woman is not too street smart, and does not drive. She plans to stay at a motel6 in Hollywood, and get around by transit.
Is she out of her mind? She wants to visit Disneyland & Knotts, and seems to think there is some sort of tourist shuttle or public transit that can get her to the parks.

I am envisioning her ending up with some very expensive taxi rides in order to get to the parks. Should I suggest she re think her plans?

I'm kinda thinking any Motel 6 in Hollywood is probably a bangatorium.

Also, Hollywood is about 30 miles from Anaheim.

I'd ask her what she wants to see and set up a location to stay at from that.

Motel 6 ANYWHERE-Dicey.Stayed at one in Yreka recently....found out next day that cops had sealed off one of the rooms to find out why it was covered in blood....whole place not too nice.
I say find a place near Disneyland, unsure if there is a shuttle to Universal from there but can take shuttle to and from Hollywood from Universal.

Hobie's right, but it /can/ be done, although in a time consuming manner, by taking the Red Line to Downtown LA, and transferring to the MTA 460 bus. However, the bus trip from Union Station to Disneyland is an hour and a half long during off-peak hours.

I believe there is a shuttle from universal studios to DL but she'd have to get there first. LA without a car = Suck.

Getting around Orange County, she should use the trip planner on http://www.octa.net ; I notice there is a shuttle system in and around Disneyland Resort. There's also Metrolink trains-- http://www.metrolinktrains.com -- and the route 50 OCTA bus goes along Katella to DLR. Amtrak runs the Pacific Surfliner from L.A. to Anaheim, but it might cost more than Metrolink. But as many people as I've had to help, tell her to research everything and plan ahead.
