Barbara Billingsley Will Not Be Down For Breakfast

Post by hobie16 » Sat Oct 16, 2010 4:13 pm

Barbara Billingsley, who gained supermom status for her gentle portrayal of June Cleaver, the warm, supportive mother of a pair of precocious boys in "Leave it to Beaver," died Saturday. She was 94.

June Cleaver, yes, but to me she'll always be the lady in the movie Airplane: "Oh, stewardess! I speak Jive." :)

RIP.

You know I saw this and looked at this later article from the Nytimes

And what struck me is that Barbra aged one whole heck of a lot better than either Wally or the Beav. :)

RIP

I agree, that what made that scene. Mrs. Cleaver, the whitest white-woman in the world, speaking Jive.

Classic. I honestly don't think it would have been near as funny if they had used someone else.

And an interview with her about that scene.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUw2fIa0dSI

I agree with all of the above. Barbara Billingsley was the ultimate TV mom, and was great parodying herself speaking Jive in Airplane!
