At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

On King Arther's Carousel, there is 2 secrets.
1. one of the horses has a gold tooth. do you know why?

Re: Disneyland Secrets
I don't know about the gold tooth, but when Walt purchased the carousel, it had animals other than horses. They removed all the non horse figures. My guess is that the original carousel had a mule figure and WED decided to just repaint it and perhaps modify it slightly to make it look more like a horse.
Another thought is that the figure is not a mule, but a horse with a Roman-nosed head. (Horse-savvy people will know what I'm talking about.)

Did the horse at one time belong to Dr. Teeth from The Electric Mayhem?drcorey wrote:1. one of the horses has a gold tooth. do you know why?
RIP Bud Hurlbut.
You will be missed.

Re: Disneyland Secrets
The ears would be about normal sized. A Roman-nosed horse has a elongated face which would make the ears look bigger.tlbwriter wrote:But how big are its ears?

Re: Disneyland Secrets
That’s one of the interesting secrets of Disneyland. Is the gold tooth plated or solid? Is there any inscription? I’ll remember to see it next time I make a visit with my kids.

Part of one of my spiels--I think it was on the now-defunct Walter K Steamboat--was when we passed the carousel, we said, "The difference between a merry-go-round and a carousel is that a merry-go-round has a variety of animals, and a carousel has only horses."
