It's my FAVORITE thing to see when I'm out near Toy Story Midway Mania (or the Toy Story 3 Ride as everyone seems to call it now).
So in the queue for TSMM, they have chains, and some of the chains are held together with magnets so they can separate quickly, I guess in case of emergency.
But we all know those SGs like to sit on chains. The look on their faces are priceless when they attempt to sit or even lean on the chain and it gives way and separates, and usually the guest freaks out. Then they try to figure out if the chain was supposed to do that, or if they broke it... I love it. Too bad nobody learns any lessons from it.
Don't sit on that chain!

That would be the best time to bark at them,"What did you do? GREAT,now we have to shut down the WHOLE RIDE to redo the que".

I know what you mean!Freak wrote:Too bad nobody learns any lessons from it.
Those magnet chains get opened up multiple times every day!
Usually its kids who make them separate!
I really get sick of seeing it every time I am in line.
Re: Don't sit on that chain!
Those breakaway magnet chains and ropes are all over WDW, though most are in out-of-the-way places. One exception is in the Soarin' queue. Every time I get in line, I mentally guess how many times I'll hear the tell-tale "ka-chink-chink-clink-clink" of those chains breaking apart and whacking against the poles...
(And FYI, those magnet breakaways are installed anywhere a rope or chain might block the route to an emergency exit. So in an emergency (in theory) a panicked Guest running for the exit wouldn't get tripped up by chain.)

Re: Don't sit on that chain!
Was in park with 12 guests from east coast last Tues. Their children were very well mannered, so was a pleasure escorting them all over. We were in a queue which was long when I noticed 3 10 - 12 yr. old boys swinging on the chains. Their swinging & jumping didn't end & irritated all of us. Finally I spoke to them & told them not to swing on the chains. They gave me their "why" expression then the usual angry look. Didn't bother me a bit. I was a guest
& could tell all 3 to get off the chains before you fall & close this line.
