Mexican moss?
The wife and I are waiting for the bus outside EPCOT. Just heard a teenage girl ask her mom "Why is there Mexican moss every where?" Took me a moment to realize she was talking about the Spanish moss.

Kinda. Years ago,a guy I worked with was from Spain and would have a rough time with our 'Hispanic' customers. Mexicans have a little Mayan and Aztec thown in for good measure. Pretty much the 'same' language, different dialects.Mr. M wrote:HA HA HA

They don't speak Spain Spanish, but they speak Spanish. Or were all the language arts teachers in school wrong when they were teaching "Spanish".Main Streeter wrote:Not even close! Vast difference.

I expect it's kind of like a French Canadian trying to be understood in France or Haiti... difficult.Mr. M wrote:They don't speak Spain Spanish, but they speak Spanish. Or were all the language arts teachers in school wrong when they were teaching "Spanish".
We had a Haitian french teacher for a year in grade 7. The school board realized they had made a huge mistake in hiring him, as the only way he could communicate with the French Canadians in our school was by speaking English. They simply could not understand each other. It turned out that his patois was not even close to French, Canadian or European. The rocket scientists who hired him spoke no French, so they just thought "It sounds like French" and hired him. He did have a teaching cert, from Haiti, and that was good enough
