This don't sound right...

1995:
A bronze statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse, called the Partners Statue, is
installed at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney Word. It is identical to the statue
created by Blaine Gibson first installed at Disneyland in November 1993.

I thought the "Partners" statues were there from opening day.

Hardly. Newcomers both, but better than some of the things that have occupied the center of the Hub.

Anybody else remember "State Fair"?

No,I dont think Walt would have stood for that. Not sure about WDW,but Disneyland was basically out of $$ on opening day. Ideas were kicked around about building an Audioanimitronic Walt, but those were quickly shelved. I'd like to think Walt would be ok with the "Partner" statue.

We had Disney State Fair with a big Farris wheel on the hub. Then the Dream Machine, and that looked like weird like "Wheel of Fortune." But that had a pull bar and the prises went around in circles. I don't know much about the Partner's Statue.

Interesting. Would have seemed like the statue should have been there from the start.

Any photos of what used to be in the hubs?

Not if he came to the hub from Frontierland.

I've got one picture of me, circa 1967 by age and clothing, sacked out on just a bench in the DL hub next to a sitting lifesize (?!?) Goofy. I say that proportionally, because in '67 I was well under kindergarden age, so size is relative, LOL. We were at Edwards AFB at the time, and it was one of Dad's R&Rs from Vietnam, I can tell from his haircut and bearing (cocky, but about to jump). That's as close as I can get to the timing.

I'll dive into one of the more recent on my next break for WDW - I'm scanning stuff for a Father's Day DVD on thesis breaks.

I know what you mean. Some people on those 'other' boards have commented on the same thing. :D: VERY un-family like.

at WDW? flowers. trees. shade.

I wonder sometimes if sculptors intentionally have at least one "eek!" angle to view their work. Ben Franklin perpetually peeing on Philly comes to mind...
