Studio Characters
I hope that you guys are not getting tired of answering rumor questions, but I read on another board that the Studios are letting some of the Streetmosphere characters ( Tootsie DuJour and Public Works) go. Is it just a rumor?

Re: Studio Characters
I love them too- they're my favorite part of visiting the Studios.
I think Bucky Greenhorn and I are the geek version of Luke and Leia: twins separated at birth. I was the only person in the crowd who knew the lyrics to the second verse of You Are My Sunshine for the sing-along. After a great chat (and a very cool 'family photo') he told us to be sure to come to the big show later and we went on to help cheer him to an overwhelming victory in the comedy contest at the end of the day.
Best joke that day- you had to make this 'funnnnnyyyyyyyyy' -something- walks into a bar...(and the 'something' this time was 'soccer balls') Well, Bucky wisely chose to drop the second word (and this went flying over the heads of the kids but the rest of us were absolutely collapsing in laughter) he said "a bunch of soccers walk into a bar, and the bartender says, 'we can't serve your type here' (or something close to that) "The soccers replied, we're not here to drink, we're just here to score!"
Brilliant.
Bucky, wherever you are, I raise my Geek banner high and support you (and I was wearing a t-shirt with a cartoon of Ugly Betty on it that day- it says "Be Ugly" and has her little glasses and braces proudly on display. It was truly a perfect Disney moment for me)

OH! and I think I've told this story before but what the heck it's a good one: one more streetmosphere thing that freaked me out in a good way in the MK: a lady who walks around with the mayor a lot- goodness, her name escapes me in the moment (doh I am drawing a blank) she remembered me from a time when she was another character and I've been trying for like the past four years now to remember who and where. When the mayor approached us in one of the shops and started talking to me, she looked up and saw me and her eyes flew open wide. She said "Honey, it's so good to see you! You look fabulous, where is the rest of your family?" (I had in fact lost a lot of weight that year).
I of course thought she was just playing- so I played along and then she leaned in and whispered "No, dear I remember you. You look so well, how have you been?" I stammered that I didn't believe it could be possible she'd remember me with all the guests she meets in the course of her days and she insisted she did. Then she smiled and winked and said, "But I do, and we have definitely met before. I wasn't always a redhead, you know..." soon after that she had to move on soon, but each time we've run into her since (at least twice on different trips and we always seem to early on- it's uncanny) she has remembered us. Last time I saw her, I was about to have my first eye surgeries soon after and she actually got tears in her eyes at seeing how blind I'd become and she hugged me and said that she'd be praying for me.
Wherever you are, dear lady, (and yes I remember the character name now! But I'll omit it purposely) I wish I could tell you that I can still see and I cannot wait to come home to WDW again and see you all. Heck, maybe I should drop her a note in the mail care of Guest Services I wonder if she'd actually get it.
It's CMs like that that truly make unforgettable moments for us all. Gosh, I love you guys.

She will *definitely* get that message, and I promise she'd be *delighted* to hear from you. I think I know who you mean, and she does have a truly prodigious memory for faces and people.February wrote:OH! and I think I've told this story before but what the heck it's a good one: one more streetmosphere thing that freaked me out in a good way in the MK: a lady who walks around with the mayor a lot ... she remembered me from a time when she was another character and I've been trying for like the past four years now to remember who and where.
