Still a "Newbie" CM...where to shuttle?

Post by Cloud Buster » Sun May 02, 2004 10:37 pm

So I'm through most of my orientation, but I realized no one told me where I was supposed to park for my shifts. I'm going to be at TDA for department training, and I have a temporary permit for the other structures, but once I've parked how do I get to the Cast Shuttle?

The reason I ask is because I'm going to swing by the Team Center near Harbor Point this week (before my first shift, which is on Saturday). I asked, and they did tell me it was okay to enter backstage off the clock to go to team center (I have my ID). I know the Cast Shuttle will take you right to Harbor Point, but I don't know where the shuttle comes FROM.

So bottom line...where should I park, where do I find the shuttle? (If you'd prefer to PM me this info go ahead, I understand)

K-lot is the only one that has a shuttle. You'll see the shuttle pickup/drop off points once you park, they're hard to miss. If you park there you can take the shuttle to Harbor Point and go to the team center. Then you can hop on the tram that takes you from Harbor Point to TDA.

K-lot would prolly be the best place to park at as far as having the least amount of walking. I hate waiting for the shuttle and tram, some people don't mind, but you do have to get there a good bit earlier. The other option would be to park at BCML and walk to TDA, altho that's a pretty long walk. I think it's Fridays after 4pm and on the weekends you can park at TDA as well.

I was pretty sure it was all weekdays after 5pm you could park there... though my mind may be going. of course anywhere is fair game with the temporary tag. if it's expired though KCML is the safest bet.

though what with waiting for the back of house tram to get you to tda it might be beter to park at TDA does anybody know what time is the TDA team center open on sat? *edit: they're not open sat or sun, weekday hours are 7a-5p* I'd try that if you've gotta do it on the day of... if you'd rather do it on another day there's an off site team center (with much more merchandise available) that's open from 9a to 6p. and Company D (merchandise) hours are 9a untill 8p. on anaheim blvd and cerritos (in the business mall on the west side of the street)

oh... and KCML (K-lot), in case you didn't know it's on Katella just east of harbor on the south side. the shuttle stops just to the right of the entrance, then at each bus stop looking bench, then at the building just to the left of when you enter.

Thanks guys. I'm also going to enter the park guest side to watch one of the parades I'll be working. Should I park in a guest lot (like Mickey & Friends) when entering as a guest, or is it okay to use the K lot?

Another quick question...will I have to scan my ID somehow at Harbor Point to get in or just show them the ID and pass by the scanners. I know the scanners are for clocking in / clocking out, and I've heard there's a button you press or something to scan without clocking in if you're just going backstage off the clock (like for going to team center). I guess I could ask security when I get there but I'd feel more comfortable knowing in advance.

Thanks for all your help. Every little bit helps make me less newbish :)

I think technically you're supposed to park in the Mickey and Friends structure when you're going in as a guest. You get free parking in there anyway, just show your id... BUT if you're already there then you can just stay in Klot and save yourself the hassle of moving your car.. that's pretty much what everyone else does anyway. Just make sure if you go after work you clock out first, and enter thru main entrance (again, not everyone does go all the way over to main entrance, but they're getting stricter with enforcing that, or so I hear...).

When you want to go backstage but aren't clocking in, there's a yellow button that says security... you hit that first and then scan your id the same way ya do as if ya were to clock in.

as a guest you should park in the guest lot (not that many people do.) You could combine the two trips and swing backstage using the kennel gate (next to the kennels to the right of the main entrance) you can just scan your id there and go through bag check, that's not a clock in/out point, so you wouldn't even have to worry about pressing the right button (which I never did anyway)
