Is security armed?

Post by Cloud Buster » Thu Apr 29, 2004 2:05 am

In another thread someone mentioned that they thought having tazers at the parks might be a good idea, and it just made me wonder -- especially given the violent nature of some of the stupider guests I've read about here -- is security armed in any way?

I'm sure they don't have guns, but berhaps a stun gun of some kind?

Or if they don't carry them around (which I would imagine they don't), do they have some kind of non-lethal weapons locker in the event someone gets REALLY violent? Or do they just call in the police and have them deal with it if it gets that bad.

I suppose I'll find out soon enough anyway....but I was just wondering. I get the feeling "where the guns are hidden" isn't exactly one of the topics they'll cover during the "Magic of Disney" resort orientation...

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they don't... they're not even allowed to touch the guests really, so I highly doubt they'd let them use a stun gun of any sort (altho... if they do, lemme know cuz I'd be first in line to transfer! ). If it gets REALLY bad, they just call the APD.

God must love stupid people. He made so many of them.

In Paris, the security guys touch the guests if they feel like it. Seems to me they like it, too, since I've seen quite a few morons being "helped" out of the park.

Anahiem PD are almost always on site nowadays to handle violent people. Security has nothing but words and strength in numbers.

"A little swordplay, now and then, keeps my mind off sheep!"

"You're messing with my Zen thing, man."

"Dreams are as portals,
flat visions of misty places,
fragments bound below my surface,
but I can write dreams,
they flow from me,
inscribed but now unbound,
I touch them,
and they are real,
and they are real."

It's the same way here, we have Orlando PD, in uniform and undercover.

Security isn't armed, but at the movie ride the gangsters and bandits are armed, with real firearms that are capible of firing a real bullet. At least at the studios, at third shift, security had custody of all the firearms. Although durring park operation the only way security, to my knowledge had a firearm is if one of ours returns from repair.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure they can't even touch guests. They're pretty useless when it comes to bad situations.

OK, here's what I've been told. :-p Security can touch the guests, if things get out of hand (like a fight or something). However, they arne't armed. But, DL has 2 officers and 1 detective on hand at all times.

I'm not sure how true that is, but that's what I was told.

The end.

"I have a stupid question for you."

"Can I have a map?"

"Where is the restroom?"

"Do you work here?"

That is weird about the non-touching, because years ago at Disneyland at Space Mountain when people would cut in line, Security would touch them...it was more of a shoulder touch, but still...is that allowed? Or is it a strictly "no-touching" policy?

im sure its a no man-handling policy as opposed to a no touching whatsoever policy. i mean, what if the guest is deaf and blind and appears to be alone?
