Lasolimu's Name That Tune

A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.
Forum rules
At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.

Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Lasolimu's Name That Tune

Post by Lasolimu » Sun Oct 11, 2009 11:07 pm

Okay, I received enough interest to get this started so here it is.

First, the rules:
Each song will be worth a number of points based on several factors including how well known the song is, how long the section played is, and how well I played that section. To get full points you must provide the name of the song as well as the artist, if you exclude either piece of information you will only get half points that would normally be awarded. Some of the songs I play will be based off of a cover, in these cases, you can give me the name of the original artist or the band that did the cover. Two people can get points for each song, The first person to get it right will get full points and the second will get half the points, after that no more points will be available for that song. After someone posts a guess I will post a response telling you whether or not you were correct, and if you were the number of points you received. Feel free to post as many answers as you want, but please, wait until I give you feedback to post a second answer. Songs will only be open until the next song is posted, usually about one week. Most of all, this is just for fun and I don't want you to take this too seriously, so go ahead and use any resource you have available to you, including each other.

This first song should be pretty easy, though it was tough for me to put together. This song will be worth 8 points.

P.S. I recorded this song back in February of 2008, shortly after getting my guitar so the quality isn't the best.

Now that we are slightly into this I realize some problems with my rules that worked the other place I did this, but won't work here, so I thought I should do a little update. If a mod would be willing, I would be grateful if the quoted section was placed over the first post of this thread and this post deleted deleted just to keep things coherent for people coming into the game late.

To make it easy to find, the current song will always be located at:http://lasolimu.exofire.net/images/NTTCurrent.mp3

I am getting an error about the site not being available, do you need a
better host? I can offer up some space on a server for this :)

Heh, I got that as The Unforgiven from MetallicA (track #4 on the Black Album, released 1991) right away. Written by Jaymz, Kirk and Lars.

Which is why I had knew I had to hurry up and post before you got here. :) I'm just slow at that kind of thing, I'll hear a song, know without doubt that I know it and even be able to hum along or sing along but not know the song. And suddenly, it'll hit me.
