Shoplifting at Disney World
My neighbors son in law is an idiot. He was arrested at Disney for shoplifting and when they searched him he had 500 bucks in cash on him.
He spent the night in jail and was told not to return. Now this happened a few years ago. He is now planning a big family vacation in Disney World in September. I thought once you were arrested at Disney you were not allowed to return. Can anyone clarify this for me? When he tries to enter the park and they finger scan him will they stop him from entering?

if security spots him, he will be escorted out with no refund.Jinxed wrote:My neighbors son in law is an idiot. once you are 86ed from Disney you need to make a appeal to security before setting foot on property. they take this really seriously.

If he was busted for shop lifting, yes, he can be banned from the parks. It stays on his police record and if he tries to get in with his family, I don't know what else security can do.
I know my high school cheer leaders were arrested for shop lifting and they were banned from Disney parks for 10 years and banned from Nationals for another 10 years.

What a dolt. Shoplifting is one thing but if you've got enough money to pay for the lifted item it then becomes burglary. If he didn't get upgraded he's damn lucky. :judge:Jinxed wrote:My neighbors son in law is an idiot. Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Re: Shoplifting at Disney World
I hate to admit this ,but my daughter shoplifted from Disneyland almost 30yrs ago. :( After a 3 day weekend I was helping my ex-wife unpack their stuff, when I found some cheesy little wind-up toy in my daughters bag. I asked my ex about it and she had no idea. I questioned my daughter,"Where did you get this?". Her reply was "Didneyland" (she was all of 3yrs old)
Apparently at the end of the day we were checking out postcards and such at the news-stand by the tunnel when she reached up and grabbed it. If I remember rightly it was a whole $1.25

So, did you sent the $1.25 to Disney, explaining the whole thing?

Re: Shoplifting at Disney World
I see shoplifting on a daily basis. Thank God for astute DL Security on Main Street who ALWAYS arrive seconds after we call & give priority to the situation. Main Street PCOs are also the very best! Have become aware most who shoplift don't need the item & have plenty of money. darph's daughter could not be termed a shoplifter as she was only 3. Taught her young didn't you darph? :D: In the 90's I was told abt a woman our family knew who had a history of shoplifting. This woman was married to a millionaire & had all she seemed to need. After her husband died she inherited 10xs more, yet her shoplifting sprees continued. Never wanted to sit near her at functions. Feared she'd stuff my bag & pockets.

Really curious about the banning and how it works. Now, I understand that there would be a few people that security knows about that would be known on sight and could not get in. But for the most part, it would have to be tied to biometrics. And I thought the fingerscans were only "relatively" accurate. I thought it tied a fingerscan to a ticket the first time it was used and upon every use after that, it had to be close within certain mathematical limits. I did not think that Disney kept a fingerprint database.
So, if someone was banned before they did finger scans, or even before they switched from the two finger scan to a fingertip, how would they be able to use the scan to flag someone?
Without being able to flag someone by fingerprint scan, I would think any bannings would have to be based on someone recognizing the person.

Very legitimate question...I don't think they can unless the security personnel have very long memories or were even there when the offense happened. Other than that they have no chance in stopping someone previously banned from entering again. I don't think they really want too. Hopefully the person learned their lesson and are not going to be a problem this time.Bright Scouter wrote:Really curious about the banning and how it works. It would be very rare for someone to be spotted after a long period of absence.

That sounds about right, and -- I'm only guessing here -- the trick would to be on his very best behavior. I suspect that if there is any further incident that brings him to Management's or Security's attention, no matter how minor, they could make the connection and he gets the boot. Further, if he'd been notified not to return, which (at least here in Texas) most businesses do in writing, keeping a copy, giving a copy to the individual, and a copy to law enforcement, then he could be charged with Trespassing.Goofyernmost wrote:Very legitimate question...I don't think they can unless the security personnel have very long memories or were even there when the offense happened.
