We had a genuine tiki bar a few miles from our house. It was attached to a Polynesian restaurant and they had hula dancing on Fridays. It was so cool!

But it's been closed for a few months now. The space has been bought by an upscale sushi/seafood restaurant. Sad.

Maybe they'll have a tiki bar in the upscale Sushi place? Other seafood need not be present.

Maybe what we have to do is find out what "Stupid Guest Tricks" is in Japanese, then we'll open up a Tiki Sushi Bar. I think they go together quite well.

Thoughts?

I, for one, am partial to BAKABAKASHII OKYAKUSAN KIKEI for our storefront. Or we could even make it a statement:

IRASSHAIMASE BAKABAKASHII OKYAKUSAN KIKEI!

What's your favorite local Tiki Bar in Hawaii, hobie? Do you walk home or just sleep it off on the beach? ;)

They're pretty much all Tiki bars. My two favorites are the bar at Pacific 'O for lunch talking story with Pepe the bartender while he preps stuff for that night's fruity drinks.

Umalu at the Hyatt is another good place. They serve Kobi beef sliders that are excellent.

As far as getting home, if I know I might be knocking back a few too many, we'll ride over with a neighbor on her golf cart. It's fun to hang on and watch her turn tourists into cones on a gymkana race course. She hasn't hit one yet. :twisted:
