Minnie's Moonlit Madness SGTs 2009

Post by glendalais » Fri May 15, 2009 12:05 am

So I VoluntEARed at Minnie's Moonit Madness again this year. Quite fun to get to do it one last time before I go.

A few interesting stories this year:

1. They couldn't get the audio on half the video clues to work. Which resulted in some...interesting voiceovers from the MC.

2. I was collecting Trivia Answer Sheets and had one person try to rush and knock me over to give me hers. It isn't a race to turn them in, people  .

3. People demanding that I give them "regular" pencils. (The pencils this year were provided by Disney's Environmentality and were made out of recycled denim or something like that. Quite cool, really.)

4. At Clue Central, one team who insisted on screaming my name loudly and repeatedly every time they approached the table to turn in a clue. Did I mention that I don't know this woman?

5. Not really an SGT, but shocked the Disney Fanatic in me. During the Trivia Section, they played a clip from the Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights and asked people to identify which Disney Resort hosted this night parade.

Someone shouts out in my section: "SpectroMagic! I would know it if I saw it!". Cue O_O expression from me.

And that's not even half of it. I ran into this team again. They were one of the teams at my Clue Central table, and I asked them where the Captain (who would be a Disney Cast Member or Employee) worked.

The Captain is a CT Cast Member at the Magic Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney World Resort.

*facepalm*

6. Oh, and my favourite.

So the main part of the competition (i.e. the running around and solving clues part) had ended. All the teams had 5 minutes to return to Clue Central and return their issued ropes for a easy 100 points.

Everyone should have known this, as the announcement was played on every speaker throughout Disneyland Park.

Well, the 5 minutes passed, we were starting to clear up and getting ready to leave. When, about 5-10 minutes later, a team mozies into Clue Central and tries to turn in their clue.

We explain that it's already too late, and could they please return the rope even though they don't get points for it. They actually resisted turning in their rope if they didn't get points  .

And the part that got me the most personally?

This was a Tomorrowland Attractions Team, and more importantly, a Finding Nemo Team, I knew all of the Members.

Again, *facepalm*.

But overall, I had fun. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to do Madness's WDW offspring (Goofy's Mystery Tour, I believe it's called?) next year. Heck, might even VoluntEAR for the event ;) .

Dumb question... (like it matters) Finding Nemo the Musical? or The Seas with Nemo and Freinds?

^ Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage :)

The frustrating part for US was the Frontierland windows clue! The task was to fill in the blanks with text from all the windows in Adventure/Frontier/NOS (such as Harper Goff's, Fess Parker's, etc.) and then there were certain letters of certain words which were underlined and numbered. You were supposed to use the numbered letters to spell out an answer to the clue, and the question was something about a CM recognition group's name. We put our numbered letters together and it spelled "Flub 55". I knew it was Club 55, but no matter what we did, we couldn't get it to give us a "C". After 10 minutes of arguing with my team members, trying to convince them "let's just go ask them!", we did. The answer?

"Oh yeah...we put the number int he wrong spot. It's a C."

*facepalm*

Can't complain, though - we placed 9th! And we put together our team an hour before the event!

We were at Riverbelle & had so much fun. There were 7 of us VoluntEARS. Three CMs & 4 former Attraction CMs. We all really blended & bonded well. When the night was over we all put our camera cells on ground as we formed a huddle. All cameras went off & pics were way cool. Most posted them on FaceBook. Our groups were mostly confused  but fun. We had 3 or so groups who didn't smile & weren't amused by our humor. ;) When groups got to us they had to make an oragami football, then 2 members had to be the goal posts, one member had to drop the football, & one member had to kick the oragami football. Football had to be kicked while standing backwards with the kicker's heel. Lastly, the backward kicker had to make donkey noises. :) We actually had abt 4 groups kick their football over goal post arms in one try. Music was playing from Golden Horse Shoe so we danced alot. Was a great night!

That was the hardest challenge for my group. Good thing my friend knew a thing or two about how to fold paper, because the rest of us didn't have a clue.
Overall, this was the most fun I have had during Minnie's Moonlight Madness. It was very relaxed and I thought the trivia questions were easier. (Relieved to know that was the Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade in the video clip because that's the answer we put down.)
I don't know where we placed but it wasn't even close. We chose mostly easy challenges and we were a minute late finishing. :( We just try to have fun.
My favorite game was naming the shows under the pie plates at River Belle Terrace. I really loved the show "Pushing Daisies" and this was nice homage.

Wow, so we were one of the few groups to get it in one try? Amazing...

And I lost the Environmentality pencil somewhere in the park that night. I was sad. That was a really cool pencil.

I just found out our team finished 55th out of 300 or so teams. :D:
In addition to the pencil we got a nice calculator from Partners. Ours was red.

Polar33, read last night your team came in 3rd. Very cool! Good pic of you too. Your group does well every year. :congrats:
