How does one promote WDW on the cheap??

A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.
Forum rules
At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.

Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

How does one promote WDW on the cheap??

Simple! Instead of hiring actors, use WDW Cast Members in a giant song and dance number!

(Starts from about 5:00)

As per the description, this is quite possibly the oddest WDW Advertisement/Vacation Planning Video ever produced, even after you consider that it was produced in the early 1980s.

Legend: Alligators dwell in the sewers beneath Disneyland.

Truth: There are no sewers below Disneyland, and therefore no alligators in them. The secret tunnels are infested with mutant rats, however.

Gosh, this really makes me pine for the days of River Country! The "Whoop 'n' Holler Hollow" and the ziplines were some of the most fun times I've had in my life. And I'm not really even that much of a water park person! (I haven't been to Typhoon Lagoon in 17 years, and I've never been to Blizzard Beach.)

They should've shown the old Fort Wilderness trailers that really looked like trailers! They were pretty comfortable after a day-and-a-half van ride down from Boston, and they were well air-conditioned.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. ;)

More like the spontaneous and exciting feeling of being in a Disney park!

When the first HSM movie came out, that actually brought musicals back and made them popular again, but now that Disney has done so much with the franchise, (and a 4th film coming in 2010) HSM is now unfortunately starting to bring musicals back into the realm of ridicule. That's the way that I see it, at least.

I have seen CMs in DLR be rather entertaining but that video is so sugary sweet and silly.

My step parents got a travel planner disc for a future WDW vacation. We got a kick out of it because the voice did not meet up with the cast member.

What we did get a kick out of was when we went to WDW last Sept. The Disney channel with what to do, etc those cast members looked they had 100 cups off coffee and needed to visit the fashion police.

That video was pure cheeseball...and I loved every moment of it. :D:

1984 coincindentally was the first year my folks took me to WDW. The next year we stayed for the first time on property at Ft Wilderness. I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

I miss Discovery Island :( and Dreamfinder w/puppet Figment (and the original JII attraction, for that matter)

Thanks for sharing this - it brought back some great memories. I really loved the WDW of the 80s.
