The Gazette, 11 February 2009 wrote:Wednesday was another bad day for the trouble-plagued Agence métropolitaine de transport, the public-transit authority that runs Montreal’s five commuter train lines.
It came a day after the AMT announced measures to quell anger over snarled schedules and chronic delays, cancellations and overcrowding.
As a crowded train sat at the Roxboro-Pierrefonds station at about 7:30 a.m, a loud argument broke out between passengers. No punches were exchanged but at some point someone pulled the emergency brake, leading to a 20-minute delays on the train, and a subsequent train.
Police were called but by the time they arrived, the train had left, a Montreal police spokesperson said. One of the passengers involved stayed on the train, while the other left in a car, police said.
The argument was between a passenger who got on at Deux-Montagnes and one who got on at Roxboro-Pierrefonds, said AMT spokesperson Marie Gendron.
“There was a little altercation because people who get on at Deux-Montagnes feel they’re losing trains and a man was irritated about this,” she said. “It wasn’t a battle or a fight, it was an argument between two people.”
