Storybook seems to be a haven for SGs

So Jack and I went to Disneyland, and there was this dad, dad's friend and little boy about 4.

It was a nice cloudy day and the crows were everywhere. I got a few nice pics of that. Very The Birds scene happening.

Anyhow, we are behind them and the kid is crying and screaming, "No,no,no I don't want to go. The whale is gonna eat me!"

Of course the dad doesn't help and says, "Yeah, it will if you don't calm down. And we will go and have fun without you. So you had better relax 'cause we going on this boat no matter what."

The kid is just bawling now. Jack and I look at each other, and I can tell he wants to throw the dad into the water just as much as I do.

Finally, the dad says, "Look. I'm just kidding with you. You won't get eaten. It's just a ride, okay? Fake houses and plastic stuff. Nothing to be scared about."

Our boat gets there, Wendy, yay! They sit in the front and we sit opposite. The very nice unaware CM starts the voyage and of course says what we all expect. "Uh-oh, it's Monstro!"

Kid starts to flip out, crying and saying he wants to get off. Now, instead of Dad calming down the boy and saying to relax, he smacks the kid on the ass and says, "Shut-up, you little whiny brat. You are not going to ruin my day, understand?"

Whoa, okay.

Thankfully the CM saves the day and tells the joke about Monstro sneezing his tail off and the kid, thank the deities above, listened to him and not his rude father.

The ride was pretty nice after that, except for the dad's comments about how everything looked so cheap and why didn't Disney put a real ride in here instead of wasting space?

I was going to say something at the end, but another guest beat me to it. She got him as we were all exiting.

"Sir, you may not appreciate this, but the rest of us do. We are Annual Passholders and we are glad that Mr. Disney gave us this wonderful place to enjoy. Perhaps your son would much rather go with our family so that he may have some nice memories since he is how did you say, ruining your day?"

The guy was so pissed, he opened his mouth but no words came out. He stood there and stared at her, his eyes just bugging out. He then snapped it shut, grabbed his son's hand and stalked away.

We all applauded her for her statement.

It's APs like that that make me proud to be one.

And yes, unfortunately that whale scares so many kids away, I actually had one once who was so scared that he threw up on the boat right after we got through Monstro, so I couldn't exactly back up (blind turn, could very easily run into another boat) That was a fun ride.

That reminds me of the Newsboys song for Jonah: A Veggiestale Movie, In the belly of the whale. There is a part that goes:

I tell kids that the boats go through the whale's mouth and ducks love to swim in the mouth too. I also tell them that the whale is friendly and they should not be scared of it. It works on my nieces. :)
