I hate shifts with less than 9 hours or even EXACTLY 9 hours in between them... I've done it twice before, after each time swore up and down I'd never do it again. Oy... let's just say work will get very interesting today :p Oh, who needs sleep anyway, right? It wouldn't be so bad, but I promised I'd do some stuff for my grandparents at their house before they got home. Well I figured I could do it in the afternoon today, but didn't realize I was working... so I just got home and get to leave again within the next 4 hours.
Geez... it might be off season, but my schedule sure don't feel like it... oh well, I need the hours (don't we all?).
I swore I'd never do this again...

My first year of grad nights, I did 2 shift changes to get a grad night shift and to pick up a day shift the next day. They were both at different locations so scheduling didn't realize that they approved it. But my shift was the grad night closer on Indy, 23-07 and then I had an opening shift on Mansion 930-18. Only 2 1/2 hours between shift. I got Doubleback for my whole 2nd shift, but around 2pm I was so tired that I couldn't even speil in the ER(expanding room), everything was just mumbling and I think my brain and tounge had gone on strike against me, so I just gave up and stopped talkin all together.
Then there was New Years Eve 2000, I opened Mansion 730-16 and picked up OT at Indy which I thought was just a night shift, 16-2430, but the lead was really short cause lots of people called in so he convinced me to stay to be his closer and I was then off at 0430. I was suppose to be back at mansion the next mornig at 900 again, but just couldn't do it so I called in.

LUCKY. Our union allows for a minimum of 8 hours between shifts. I have closed and opened, with 8 hours between, no consideration for getting home, winding down, sleeping, getting up, getting ready, and running out the door starving.Polar33 wrote:Heh...welcome to my life. I'm regularly scheduled closing shifts on Fridays and then opening shifts on Saturdays. Usually it's exactly 9 hours which I hate since it's not enough time for a full night's rest, yet it's not enough to pay me the double-back premium.
ahhhh....i so feel you guys
even though i don't work lots of hours at disney (about 25-30) i work a second job and go to school so i don't get much sleep at all. i work anywhere from 10-16 hours a day. my days off are usually when i work only 1 job and if it's at night only. today i slept for over 11 hours 'cause i had the morning off and i needed to catch up. :D but hey i'm young and if i could do it....might as well, right?

I remember the days I used to work Space when I would get there before the sun rised and would leave somtime after midnight. My whole first summer there was like that. I don't know how I did it.
Just this last winter season I put in my longest shift ever... 17.5 hours!!! This was at Mansion during Nightmare. Jumpin jellyfish I was tired. And the next day I put in about 14.

The hotels in San Francisco went on strike recently and I was forced to go work there (my company owns some hotels in the city) So I had to work my normal shift 8-5:30, go to San Francisco and work from 6:30-12:00am, be the Manager on call overnight and drive back to Walnut Creek to work at 8am....this went on for a week. Know what I got paid? My normal pay and a $50 gift card to Macy's.

At DLP there is none of that since european employment laws prohibit shifts to begin sooner than 12 hours before the last shift ended unless in very special circumstances.
This means that you usually start out with early shifts in the beginning of your work week and end with the late shifts.
