"Will they still have fireworks today?"
"Will they still have fireworks today?"
This was asked of me yesterday night (12/17/08) when it had been raining all day long. Cold, rainy Can we say it was miserable outside???... We were having people seated before they would go get their food at Plaza Inn. I told her that it was too wet to do the fireworks so they weren't going to do them. They even canceled the parades too. SG Mom was leaving Plaza Inn to go somewhere else with a stroller.
Another thing happened last night too as I was greeting at the door... a couple came up and were talking to me a little, and then the woman of this couple peels the gloves off her hands and gives them to me out of the blue... The man of the couple tells me she does things like this all the time. She tells me I should wear them. I tried to deny the gloves/give them back, since they're not part of the costume but she didn't take no for an answer, so I shoved them into my pockets of the coat, and told her I would wear them when I was back stage, and off later. I gave her a Citizen of Disneyland button.
I do wish they had gloves appropriate to go with the costumes/coats for Plaza Inn that looked old fashioned, but were warm too.

I would think that a dark cloth glove with buttons on the side would come very close to that! You should put in a suggestion!!!

I know how you feel about the gloves... I can't stand the ones they give us for Monorails and attractions. They are uncomfortable and I find that they don't really keep my hands all that warm. I would love to see us go to driving gloves.

Theyare made fore men and women though women are the ones I look for at LL Bean. You can find them online at LL Bean and sporting stores like Cabelas.
They are light weight so they fit under work gloves and keep you toasty.

Try these. They're filled with cedar to absorb moisture and odors.Big Wallaby wrote:I know how you feel about the gloves... I can't stand the ones they give us for Monorails and attractions. Or these double nomex models. Can you hear the vroom vroom?

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

I used to wear my old Army polypro glove liners, real thin but real warm. The ones Disney gives you suck. I remember when I went in for a indy shift when it was raining I would put on thermal underwear and gloves. The hat condoms are a must if you wear one. Especially with the indy hats, they deform in the rain and smell like wet dog when wet

I have seen those cheesy white gloves. I also know cast members who have said that their hands are never warm when wearing them.
If you get them wet, they are hard to dry out and they do start smelling funny.

Re: "Will they still have fireworks today?"
After those cheesy white knit gloves helped me slip and fall off the train, I started to wear my own leather gloves from the last railroad I worked on.
I figured if anyone objected, I'd point out that the standard issue gloves were bad show as they weren't a style suitable to railroad work. Had they then insisted, I'd have worn the knit gloves every day, making sure to cake them up with grease, until there were none left.
Fortunately, the managers we had back then rarely left the office, and never in weather cold enough to need gloves, so it never became an issue.

That's so funny 'cause we were there that day! When the annoucement came that Disneyland was closing 2 hours earlier, you could hear some folks get all pissy.
Okay, I am a nut for going out in it, obviously, but you fools that take your children out in it are total morons.
Why oh why would you have little Jonnny or Jane in that is beyond me.
"I paid good money for these tickets, we are having fun even if you get pneumonia!"
As it was, we got there at 11am and stayed until 7pm. Yeah, I know, crazy.
But it was a blast with no lines and it still looked so pretty all lit up.
