I'm sorry sir, this isn't a clown convention!

Post by glendalais » Thu Nov 20, 2008 9:13 pm

Went to the Soft Opening of "it's a small world" holiday today.

Had a great time. It's wonderful to have that part of the park not obstructed anymore by construction walls; and they did a great job on the refurb, the Attraction looks better than ever. It even has that 'new ride' smell (or at least that was a 'new ride' smell :eek :) .

However, with the reopening comes ever more SGTs :) .

I was at the head of the queue, when I noticed that a group of about 5 teenagers had squeezed into one row on the boat. Of course, the Load CM also noticed this and went about trying to get them to move into seperate rows. They just looked at her like she was crazy before they climbed over the seats into seperate rows.

And, as to other SGTs related to the reopening of this "loveable" Attraction....*points down*.

At least they didn't call it "The Valley of the Dolls" or "The Mad, Mad World of Children" (from David Koenig's More Mouse Tales: A Closer Peek Backstage at Disneyland - great book by the way, lol).

By any chance, did you find water on the floor of the boat? When I was on the boat with another cast member and her husband, we did see water inside the boat. I did see where water had slushed out on the ride. I wonder if they over flowed the flume and it slushed into the boat.

We won't have to worry about the cheer leaders. Put them on Small World and the water that slushes into the boat will smear their makeup off. :D:

With any luck, some SGs will fall over trying to do what those teens did and drown. Purifying the gene pool, one SG at a time....

I agree, you can put the kids on the ride and bob them in and out the the water. It will remove all the chocolate from their faces. Also if you want a full wash, push them in near the middle of the ride. Like Splash Mountain gives you a falf wash.

If one was to take a dip in DL's it's a small world now's the time to do it. The water had to be completely replaced with fresh because of the refurb so is cleaner than it has been in years probably.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

This is like an hourly occurrence at it's a small world, another regular occurrence is when it's raining and we tell people to have a seat and they look at us and say, the seat's wet. (For those of you who have not been to Disneyland's world, we load outside)

Oh, it was so nice at the time we went. There was NO line and we didn't have any SGs on our trip. In fact, there were 2 empty boats behind us.

I can't remember when I have had a more relaxing ride on it.

Usually there are screams from babies which is normal, and rude people discussing their latest operations, (yeah, it happened!) but this was nice because I think that most guests that day didn't know it was open.

The only thing that kind of sucked was the fact that Main Street didn't stay open that extra hour due to the fact that KOST was having their private party that same night.

And I really wanted a Mickey pretzel too. Meh, it's only 'cause I couldn't have it that I was mad.

But I do enjoy being "that guy" and walking around for a few more minutes through the shops stalling until you have to leave. Felt kinda gypped that night.
