And to put an SGT spin on all this, I have 5 words.

I was an Election Pollworker.

And boy do I have SVT (Stupid Voter Tales) to tell. I'm currently vetting through them for appropriateness. But goodness, do they surpass anything I've seen in the parks :D: .

Technically, Obama is only the President Designate. He won't be the President Elect until (and unless) the Electoral College votes to elect him. And it will be January before he's actually President.

This is why work on the new president for the Hall of Presidents isn't authorized until they take the oath of office. If somebody dies before being sworn in, Imagineering gets stuck with an unusable face.

Let's all pray that the wisdom of that practice is never proven.

Actually, Z, according to this, they'd already done some preliminary work, creating busts of both Obama and McCain, to shorten the time the attraction is down for refit.

Read on in the brief article about the changes being made -- looks like The Hall of Presidents is getting a iasw-level overhaul, with new projectors, lighting, sound, etc. And George Washington might get a line or two! To me, it's all welcome attention being given to an often under-appreciated attraction

Wow, has that ever happened?

Even though the public voted and Obama won, what if the Electoral College says no?

That would be weird...

I suspect the early start was because after all these faces, Baine Gibson isn't doing the bust. His younger protoge is working (with his support), and probably wanted the extra time for herself.

As for shortening the length of the rehab, it won't have much impact. The building is getting a major overhaul, as is the show, and the 8-month shutdown is longer than is needed to customize a single president. Should be worth the wait, provided James doesn't decide to move on.
