Have a SCMT, get a SGT for free!

Post by ktulu » Mon Oct 20, 2008 5:54 pm

I have SCMT that happened to us and a SGT! It was a fabulous two-fer on Sunday, within minutes of each other!

First, the SGT. As we were leaving to head to the airport on Sunday, we saw a guy sitting on the ground by the front tram loading area, one of the Disney Security guys, a CM keeping people from walking through the area and two officers from APD. I gathered from the brief part of the conversation I heard that he was drunk, and someone else around him was just as drunk (his words). There was a stroller there as well, I can only imagine his family left him embarrassed.

The SCMT happened also on Sunday. DisneyMom, Mr. DisneyMom, Susi, Raphie, glendalais, and my family (9 total if you count Paige) were boarding Pirates. We told the grouper 9 total, she sent us to row 3 and 4. We told her we wouldn't all fit, and my wife and I (with Paige) took row 5 (it was not filled yet), as we tried to board the grouper made us move and we protested that we couldn't fit in with the rest of our group. Her answer was we could get on the next boat.

Now, normally I'd just let it go, but Abby wanted to ride with her new friends and she was with Susi and Ralphie. So my wife and I watch as the boat leaves with our daughter. I was confident that she would be okay, if I wasn't that ride would have been e-stopped as I jumped the gates to get my daughter. Yes, I can willfully pull a SGT if I think my family is in danger. My wife's blood pressure shot through the roof and I was ready to drag the grouper to HM and make the number of happy haunts rise. We boarded the next boat and we had 1 boat separating us. I could see that Abby was having fun, so I was able to cool off before we got off the boat. We did ask for a manager, who was pulled from a meeting in Tomorrowland and came over to listen to us. I think Susi had more to say than we did! I don't know what will happen to the CM, but our voice was (possibly) heard, and they boarded us again (this was supposed to be our last ride before we headed out) and we rode again, minus DisneyMom and glendalais.

Thankfully that was the worst of it all. The crowds were bad, but not as bad as I've seen in the past. We still had a great time!

I was so sorry that happened, I turned around and saw your faces as we pulled away and was in shock
I was very grateful that Abby was not scared by either Pirates or being away from Mom and Dad for the duration, but what if she was? That was a very Stupid Grouping Trick, totally unrealistic to think that all of us could fit in 2 rows comfortably, and I'm sorry I didn't question it at first.
Hubby said 2nd trip was better, Glendalais wanted to wait outside(and shopped a bit) and I didn't want to leave him alone. I know, Glendalais, I'm a Helicopter Mom :sparky:

That was ridiculous, inconsiderate and just plain lazy on the part of the CM. Inexcusable! Glad it turned out okay.

Yep, I agree that was just unacceptable. It certainly wouldn't have been an SGT if you lept after your daughter, what if she had gotten in the boat without being with people you knew, eh  ?

To think we would all fit comfortably in two rows...maybe if this were the SupermodelsGatheringTogether.com message board, lol.

I think if it was serious enough to pull a Manager from a meeting on the other end of the park, it would result in discipline for Disney Courtesy, at the very least, maybe a Safety depending on how you look at it, so you can rest assured there.

Sorry I didn't ride along for the second time :o: . That drop really does take its toll on me (mainly because of the drop in the dark....though I'm fine with Space Mountain, oddly enough :rolleyes :) , and twice in one weekend was more than enough, lol.

something similar happened to us one day at pirates...my son's leg doesn't bend like it used to (it's called scar tissue around the internal prosthetic) and we knew 5 of us would not fit in one row...we purposely grouped ourselves into two groups, but elyse and i were dressed alike and the scm decided we should be in one group...when we said we wouldn't all fit in they stuck my son in the row behind us with a group of 4 (so still 5 in a row)...his leg didn't fit and we all had to get out while we waited for the next boat so we could be placed in 2 rows as we'd originally asked...and that day it wasn't crowded...the scm's response? "i didn't know there was a problem with his leg" (this after we'd told her that his leg didn't bend and he was clearly carrying his cane)

Maybe the SCM was blind and deaf, as well?

i've had that happen to my family.

my mom and i are the two smallest (i definitely take after her ins ize) while my sister and brother take a after my dad (not obese not "fat" just built big). we were boarding the safari at animal kingdom and we were assigned, the five of us all adults, to one row. we tried to fit in but if we all got in then the door wouldn't have closed. my dad jumped off (since he was on the end) and stormed to the exit, ticked off.

CM's need to be trained to account for the size and age group of people. a Family of 5 with two small children can fit in one row better than a group of 5 adults. it's just common sense that people seem to be lacking.

Yep, D L Security Officers were called on this one. They got absolutely nowhere with the 2 drunks, though they tried. They finally escorted 2 drunk SG backstage where they were promptly cuffed & taken to jail. My fav. D L Security Officer laughed & said; "Imagine coming to D L to have fun & waking up in jail." This & his longer version (as he was there) provided mid shift Main Street CMs with lots of backstage Sunday laughs. :D:
