Beastly Kingdom

Post by Christine43 » Mon Jul 14, 2008 10:36 am

Does anyone here know if Beastly Kingdom is still even a faint possibility? Could this be their answer to Harry Potter? Thanks.

Animal Kingdom closes around dusk which means they need a way to keep the park open later. There is talk of doing a Beastly Kingdom but not Potter related as honestly you aint geting me into a potter land. It would have ties to mythical critters related to Disney brands Also this would be a chance to expand the park without the cost of animals. They could get a lot of revenue from a new land.

It wouldn't be Harry Potter because Universal already claimed that market.

I've been hearing plans for a nighttime/villain/scary park for years... I don't know if it's something like how I've also head that they're developing a new movie for Soarin', but I've never seen it. It's a good idea though to put it in Animal Kingdom at night... There's a lot of space around that park too that they could clear to add on to it.

yep, Disney told ms rowlings they would rather not do a HP attraction after they found out what she wanted done. and that to do it her way would cost
several millions to build. I guess universal went for it. I guess they are betting her story's are not just a passing fad. watch them do a Wizards and Witch's boutiqe like Disney's Bib bob boo.

from what i understand part of the rumored beastly kingdom actually went over to Islands of Adventure, supposedly Dueling Dragons was supposed to go into the rumored Beastly Kingdom which turned into Camp Minnie Mickey. Story has it that some imagineer went to Eisner with the idea for Islands of adventure, he said no so they left ,took the idea with them, and created IOA funny thing is if you look hard enough you can find hidden mickeys in IOA

That kinda stuf happens all the time. The founders of the last company I worked for went to their management with a way to vastly improve the product performance and reduce the cost to build at the same time. Management said no so they left and started a new company. On the way to $4 billion in sales per year their old company went out of business.

With Wizarding World of Harry Potter opening in Universal next year, there's a been a lot of speculation on whether Disney would open up a new land/ride etc. in answer to it.

Ok here is the low down from a AK insider....

First and formost... Yes Dueling Dragons was originaly designed AND built for DAK's Beastly Kingdom. It sat off site awaiting to be moved to DAK. Eisner steped in and said no to that area of the park. So Disney sold it ( hidden Mickey's and all ) to Universal along with the Unicorn Ride that is next to it.

Second... Poke-Me-Haunt-Us is being removed because the AREA is going to be going under the knife for a change. Seeing that the Imagineers left several already built Beastly Kingdom sceens/props inplace when the park opened that they may re-decorate them to the "new" areas theme...

The area behind that Anmial Show that i will not name was the out and back for the DD coaster and will be getting a prep for area expantion that is currently under lock and key.

One thing that i was told is that the Camp M/M entrance from Dicovery Island will be moved to take pressure ( Traffic ) off of the Africa bridge.

If all is said and done here is what i believe to be done.

1: The Festival of the Lion King will be moved back to its original designed area ( next to Refiki's ). Their is a reason why FOLK's float storage is a temp building and not a permanant structure.

2. The meet and great will be moved to several locations around property.

3. DAK will be getting a coaster before the currently unannounced Pixar / Monster Inc. Coaster at the Studio's.

I must interject with the statement that I do not have any official information from the parks, but third party info from people in the right place. All information is to be considered unofficial and false untill the WD inc. makes an official statement

They need to use the park for more hours a day.

It should be for a wide variety of people. Something should be there even if a person is old, a toddler, religious, or what ever.

It should have variety so that people do not get bored. It either has to be able to change or have a general theme like beauty and the beast, cinderella and toy story.
