No more cuts for Knott's disabled guests
Knott's eliminates front of line privilege for disabled guests because of SG's taking advantage of the policy:

"Excuse me, are those ducks real?"
"Yes, sir, but the water is fake."

Pfft, its because K's is evil and just cheap. They don't care about their guests. This isn't because of SG's.

Re: No more cuts for Knott's disabled guests
Knott's already has had a complaint lodged against them because a guest with an autistic child was kept from going on rides. It's on http://www.themeparkinsider.com . When I heard the teaser last night, I thought they were going after the regular line-cutters. I would've liked to have seen that!
I read the article on the KBFDrama site, and I think they are really shooting themselves in the balls. Won't be long before they take aim at their head. I think the system they had when I was there--bring medical certification and get a white pass--worked fine. The bad part was that there would always be some SGs that thought the H/Cs were cutting, and having to explain to them the ADA ruling.
The way I see it, since there are some rides that have little or no shade, there's going to be more heat-related problems, and Knott's is just asking for trouble. Also on the KBF site is an article where recently the Sky Cabin got stuck near the top and two dozen guests had to be rescued. Turns out Knott's tried to save money by using 20 amp fuses instead of the required 25 amp fuses. The latter info is from another poster.
If Knott's pushes this, I predict there's going to be a riot over the 4th of July holidays. I can see it now--park locked down, all of Buena Park on tactical alert. Now that's what I call real news!
A sidebar to the article on the change in H/C passes had a poll, where it asked if you think the new rule is fair, unfair, or if you have no opinion. I chose unfair; I didn't see too many people faking being disabled, because of the requirement, when I worked there. And those who tried to fake were easily spotted. However, I noticed that most people who responded to the poll indicated that they felt H/Cs should wait the same amount of time as everyone else. To me that is another sign of selfishness and entitlement of people. They are slowly chipping away the rights of the handicapped that have been gained over the years. What's next, signs outside the park saying "No Handicapped persons allowed"?

Re: No more cuts for Knott's disabled guests
It sounds like it provides equal access for all instead of giving preferred access to the handicapped. For the most part people with physical handicaps can wait in line with everyone else and they should.
WDW does what they can to make attractions equal access for all. Most of the queues in the parks are main-streamed, they are fully or mostly accessible so wheelchairs go in the main line and if the handicapped loading area is separate from the main one they will be pulled from the line towards the end. This means they wait about as long as the non-handicapped guests so is fairer to everybody than them just bypassing the wait. People with disabilities that prevent them from waiting in the regular line can get a pass from Guest Relations that allows them to use an alternate entrance and bypass the regular line.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

I can see the positive on this, even for Knotts.

The rides that are new may have lines that can handle the disabled but some rides like the stagecoach and log ride date way back before the ADA. There is no shade for many lines ate Knotts. I remember taking a friend and we had to enter the dinosaur ride through an exit. Dont know about riots but I hope Cheshire or someone takes this up at Disboards' Disabilities boards as they will be very upset.

It's already there Churchy...Been reading it since there are some folks who are reading the original thread on the community board and are all "Yeah!" while the parents, friends of and assistance needing folks are all sorts of upset.mechurchlady wrote:The rides that are new may have lines that can handle the disabled but some rides like the stagecoach and log ride date way back before the ADA. Slightly off-topic, and not disagreeing at all that KBF screwed something up, but the cabin was not "near the top" when it got stuck. The tower is 225' tall, and the fire dept. used their 100' ladder to rescue the people. I've seen the photos of the rescue and the cabin is below the half-way point.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled ... hey look, a flower!
Re: No more cuts for Knott's disabled guests
Yeah, those guests should have known that 100 feet is nothing! Pfft, that's such an easy evac!

Guys, my eye is still suffering the effects of a recent bout of shingles on my face, with eye involvement. So they go hazy on me at times, k? Cut this old lady some slack. Of course when the bulk of your day consists of sitting around the house, your brain tends to get flabby, affecting detail recall.
