An apology from a long-time lurker

Post by elbigvato » Sat Jun 14, 2008 6:42 pm

Hi all,

I've been reading these boards for a while, just lurking about. I'm writing from the World right now because I feel the need to apologize for a SG. This goes to the bus driver this past Thursday about 2pm driving from MK to POP. It seems that you made a wrong turn, or got rerouted (I could hear a lot of chatter on the radio). There was a couple on the bus that just about went ballistic! I apologize for their behavior. The rerouting only added 5 minutes to the entire trip. By the way the woman sounded, though, she was complaining about every little thing. Doesn't make for much of a fun trip, IMO.

Also, to the young lady that was driving Safari #24 yesterday in the early afternoon, I hope you are doing better. You seemed to have a bit of a breathing problem yesterday as you spoke to your manager over the radio. Thanks for sticking the ride out, you really are a trooper!

I hope the bus driver gets a chance to read this. That was nice of you to start this thread for him/her.

In June our bus driver forgot she was going to CBR - she had been driving to Pop, and kinda went on automatic pilot. Hey, it happens - I once ended up going north towards Nashville instead of south towards Memphis because 9 times out of 10 that's where I would go. There was some grumbling on the bus - but c'mon! Bus drivers are only human. Hope your bus driver didn't take it personally.

We ended up at the wrong resort once. It was kind of funny, with the driver insisting that it was his destination and that he had been at the correct stop and a whole busload of guests insisting that it was not because they ALL knew they were waiting at another resort stop. Eventually we convinced him and were brought to the right location. Thankfully no one acted like an SG about it...things happen, and it makes an amusing memory.

Last September my sister and I went to WDW. We had just caught the bus from the Animal Kingdom. The last group of guests came on the bus and asked if it went Downtown Disney. Our bus driver "AL" said no. This bus goes to the Pop Century. These people had the deer in the head lights expression. I just hope I do not see these guests in Sept. when I return.

Hey, welcome to the SGT! Don't be a lurker anymore!!

Sadly, I think that a lot of the drivers are used to having SG's on their bus, from time to time.

They should remember that they are on vacation and don't really have a schedule!!

Regarding that Cast Member on Safari 24, couple questions for you... first of all, how did you know the number of the truck? Second, what time of day was it? I can get a message to her if you like. Please, with the time and if you have a name, PM that to me.

During a Go! airlines flight from Honolulu to Kona on the Big Island both the pilots fell asleep. They went 15 minutes past Kona before the screams from air traffic control finally woke them up.

Both are now looking at other career opportunities.

This amazingly sounds like an experience I had in 2005 returning from the MVMCP. The bus driver was telling all sorts of trivia and the guests were having fun. But during this fun somehow he thought we were AKL guests while we were Pop Century guests. When he found out he was highly embarassed.

*sigh* When I stayed at the Villas (I think) back in...97? (Dang!) I remember telling my sister that she was headed towards the wrong bus. She insisted that it was going our way. I insisted that the Grand Floridian wasn NOT our resort.

The park was about to close so it was one of the last buses. My sister finally realizes that I (at 11 years old) was right and she (at 33) was wrong and starts flipping out. Thank god that only 2 people were going to the GF; after the driver dropped them off he offered to take us to our resort.

My sister was a total SG that trip. I felt like I had to double check every time table and map to make sure we wouldn't be stuck! Now at 44, she's still the same way. Maybe a bit worse.
